Hamilton looked decent on Mediums, but difficult to compare with those Red Bull runs on Softs, which were considerably quicker - hard to say how much of that is down to the tire (or not). Bottas on Softs was around a second off pace

Was watching Sainz's onboard chasing Norris during FP2. Easy to see how quick the McLaren is on straights from that vantage point and they probably didn't have the engine turned up. On the other hand, the Ferrari was predictably closer in S2.

Good. One less Red Bull track.

The rate Mercedes are losing performance now, mostly due to the new floor regs, they need as many races for them.

The incredibly defeatist attitude from fans of the most dominant F1 team in history is amusing to say the least.

Anything less than a dominant car results in endless complaining and moaning throughout the weekend.

Mercedes are still big-time favourites for both titles. They have the best car around normal circuits by a good margin.

It's truly fascinating, something I honestly do not understand.

People that simultaneously have incredibly deep technical insights and fantastically shallow highschool cheerleading.

Well said :D :D. May be a comforting thought for the fans is that the Mercs came on top several times when they were overrun. So you can add the word: premature.

It's just the tyres, in combination with the track surface, imo.

On other tracks with the harder compounds everything is good.

At Monaco and here at Azerbaijan Pirelli brought the softest compounds, which it seems Mercedes struggle to get into the correct operating window. This is a major problem for qualifying but it should mean that the tyres suffer less degradation in the race (hopefully).

Anybody got a look on the long runs ? I was suspecting Merc was focussing on the long runs and leave the short runs for later.

I guess that’s just par for the course as when Mercedes was dominating, it was endless moaning and complaining from virtually everyone else.

Thanks for posting this. Leclerc’s run is an odd one - seems like he goes way too hard on lap one (1.5s faster than Ham) which means he struggles for the rest of the stint. I guess maybe that’s a worthwhile test but a bit of a rookie thing to do unless intentional.
