Sounds like Norris was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t there. Choice of either speeding in the pit Lane or ignoring the red flag to pit. I hope they don’t penalise him.
But if they do, it absolutely annoys me that they do it after the session. It completely screws over the person in 16th who may have had an opportunity to get further up the grid in Q2.
He attempted to pit but didn’t, then he increased speed for no reason. I can see there’s a defence for not pitting as he was going quite fast, but the speed increase after is harder to defend.
The speed increase is not in his favour, for sure! But I hope they go easy on him. It was a lot to process all in a few seconds and there was no harm done, really.
(However the rules are the rules, so....)
