Interesting dynamic this weekend. Mercedes made a last-minute swap to a setup that gives them a massive straight-line speed advantage, something that seems to have upset Verstappen. If Hamilton can keep Verstappen behind at the start, I can't see Verstappen making a pass on the track. You can see the frustration showing in Verstappen's interview after qualifying. This looked like a chance to make a big impact in the championship, and it's not gone the way he thought it would.

Also, amazing performance from Leclerc, he seems to go well here and this is certainly redemption from 2019. I can't wait to see these 3 fight for the win in the race.

He made two purple sectors before Tsunoda crashed. What else do you expect from Verstappen? Especially when it happened to him two times in a row.

Tsunoda crashed in S1.... how he could have 2 purple sectors??

Stop with this non sense. Leclerc was even 2 tenths up in his last attempt in S1.

Even combined best sectors put Verstappen behind Leclerc.

He needed to be fastest in his first run. And he didn't do that...

Tsunoda is really turning into a crasher. Crashing almost every race now.

Also, Verstappen was not setting two purple sectors (as some have suggested) before the red flag. He was in the middle of the first secotr. Some people here need to stop making up "facts" with the sole purpose of glorifying Max.
You are very much correct. The red flag came out while Max was in S1 as you say , infact Max had just exit turn 2 when the Red Flag came out.

As for people making up facts, I heard Christian Horner say to Sky TV "It was purple in sector 1 and sector 2, there was a better lap in there and it looked like he'd pick up a tow from Alonso"

So if you listen to Horner it very much sounds like Max was purple in S1 and S2 and was placed well for a tow.

When Tsunoda crashed, Max was at Turn 2. So no, just no. Max's first run in Q3 was over 2 tenths slower than Leclercs best in Q3.

The live timing on formula1 showed very clearly purple but only in the first sector.

Likely for Leclerc, definitely not for Verstappen.

Screenshot of final section of f1 live timings
Showing verstappen didn't even come close to Turn 3 before the red flag.

The best sector one and sector 2 times of Verstappen was from Q2.
Same as Lewis best s3 time was from q2
