Some time ago, I received a negative rating on this forum because I said that Pirelli's departure from Formula 1 would be great news. I still think that the departure of Pirelli from Formula 1 will be great news, not only Pirelli as a company but also the whole philosophy behind the restrictions regarding tires. Pirelli has proven through all these seasons that he is not capable of making tires as they say they should to be. In Baku we had the opportunity to see two high-speed incidents in which the lives of drivers were endangered on tires that, according to Pirelli, should have lasted longer. Another in a series of mysterious pressure losses or the explosion of the holy Pirelli tire. All those restrictions that Pirelli imposed by force obviously don't work, and no one believes anymore in the justifications "damaged by debris". It's time for Pirelli to pack his luggage!
I am not a fan of RB and Horner, but they have my respect for the request to stop the race!
I totally see why you got the negative rating.
Because I'm pointing the finger at the ugly truth that St. Pirelli didn't live up to the challenge? It's worth...
No, I think you got downvoted because you sound like you don’t understand what you are talking about.

This is what Isola actually said:
“I believe I can exclude that failures were due to tyre wear, because it's not a matter of tyre wear…. The rear-left tyre is not the most stressed tyre in Baku because... it's obviously the rear-right."

“I don't want to give any preliminary conclusions. But it seems that it is a cut due to debris, because as I said, it's not the most stressed tyre… We had other cars with the same number of laps [on the] same tyres without any issue. So the preliminary investigation is that it is probably due to an external factor, or debris, or kerb or whatever."

That’s ok but I wouldn’t expect them to admit fault anyway.

Your comment doesn't make any sense to me. I wasn't making any suggestion or accusation against Red Bull if that's what you are suggesting? My point was it was clear race control had very little control over the situation at that point in time, as evidence by that radio exchange.
Look, there was a car in shambles on the 315+ kph start/finish straight. It's rather usual to red flag in such a case, just to clean up and remove debris to avoid a likewise crash in the laps following. Fact that there were only 3 laps left does not change anything on that.

The warning RB gave immediately (really immediately) to Masi We had zero warning about that failure was an extremely responsible one, and went way beyond team-interests. It was additional and undoubtfully very helpful information to the stewards, information they could not possibly have known by then (within 30 secs after the crash).

If the above doesn't make any sense to you as well, then only God knows what will ...
But I never suggested anything about "team interests" ?? I also don't care. Put your fanboy stuff in a box for the moment, and just analyse the response of race control. It was panic, they didn't know what to do, that much was clear from the radio comms and the footage inside race control.

Calling for the red flag from RedBull also might be a bit tactical. If they red flagged it during the lap in which Verstappen had his blowout and didn’t resume the race, he had of won.
Yes, Di Resta mentioned this straight away on the Sky coverage but the safety car remained out for a bit longer. I’m sure RBRs real motivation as to have the race stopped immediately and Max awarded the win.
Yes, the one moment Di Resta perked up and had a bit of hope in his sad, solemn voice again, until Hamilton went off when he started sounding like a kid at Christmas!

Also once the red flag came out , I first thought the race was finished, maybe RedBull already knew Perez had an issue, so stopping it early would have helped them or at least get to Perez car to try and fix the hydraulic issue he had ? Who knows.

Sergio Perez is not necessarily out of the title fight here. In practice it almost certainly won’t work out that way - I’m still a bit sceptical about his long pit stop tbh - but 36 points behind, although it may sound like a lot, is only about 16/17 in the old points system. That’s totally recoverable, at least in theory.

Not really because Max lost today
yeah hamilton won the race :)
Max lost a 15 point lead in the championship with the crash so now its just 4 points with no flexi wing
RedBull won that race without the flexi-wing. And they were going to finish 1-2 on merit if it was not for the tyre failure.

I know 'cut proof' is impossible, but it is probably time to consider a 'cut resistant' layer in the tyre, even if it degrades performance slightly. It would be the same for all, so no advantage/disadvantage to teams. It Is looking like only luck saving a death or serious injury to driver of (more probable ) worker

Edit to explain my thoughts. To slow the event, not prevent it. A deflation must be safer than a disintegration in the manner of old style laminated glass.

Aye. RBR produce a WDC winning motor and Perez wins the WDC instead of Max… imagine…

Everybody on Sky needs to be for Hamilton? Brundle f.e. Quite clearly is. Ant is. Easy to recognize as well. Sam Collins is actually (is he Sky?) fanatically for Hamilton. And next to that against Verstappen. Sky isn’t watched just in the UK you know.

They knew. Hydraulics do sometimes go down slowly. They told checo no weaving and burn outs onto the grid for the restart. Explains the poor restart too I think?

Yeah, I can't believe I pay for F1 TV and get Sky. I'm not british! They are so biased towards MB and Hamilton that the only time and way some people here notice it is when Di Resta is the odd one out.

It used to be that the pitlane channel on F1 TV was neutral - Alex Brundle and Aalex Jaques (sp?) are fantastic. Yesterday they had Rosanna Tennant and Sam Collins doing the PLC and they were once again in the tank for MB and Hamilton.

You cannot blame the british to cheer for a british driver...One may expect a more neutral stance though if it is the official F1 TV for international coverage. May be they are not told yet that F1 TV is for more than only GB :P
