LMH vs LmdH

Cost effective or more freedome .
Which would be the better for the OEM's ? Can the ACO/FIA make a good BoP ?

It's a mess!

There should be one class for LMPs. LMH, LMP2 and LMPDh all in the same class, with the same rules, every LMP racing for outright victory. =D>

Absurd! So ACO tell Toyota to build a heavier car at great expense, and then it is slower than LMP2.

Yet Toyota aren't allowed to run the grandfathered LMP1 hybrid, as only non-hybrid grandfathered LMP1s are allowed (who knows why? absurd! anyhow the grandfathered LMP1 is also slower than LMP2 anyway).

Yet Toyota also aren't allowed to just run a LMP2 car because a LMP2 car has to have a Gibson engine, instead of having open engine regulations so they can run a Toyota engine in it.

The whole thing is preposterous, quite frankly.

Just have one set of prototype rules and make sure manufacturer teams have to homologate their powertrain/chassis, and then sell it to every privateer who orders one (at a fixed price). How hard can it be? :)

It can be a Oreca or Toyota or Glickenhaus or Peugeot chassis with Gibson or Toyota or AER or Renault or Porsche or Audi 4.0 V8 engine plus some kind of spec hybrid assist. That would be just fine as far as a set of regulations go. :)

I hear you brother, and agree 100%. Even before this the ACO bungled the Hypercar class. During its inception, it was to bring manufacturers like McLaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, and Bugatti back into LM racing by being closely based off road going Hypercars, kinda like the glory days of GT1. Then, they messed that all up and instead of being based on road going (or later homologated) cars, they looked just like the LMP1s of yesteryear.

There is a reason everyone except Toyota pulled out of the top tier of endurance racing. THIS was not the way to fix it. :SMH:

Just imagine how slow the Glickenhaus must be as they skipped Spa to avoid getting stuck on homologation.

I’m really curious how the LMH is going to beat LMDh. Probably they will have a smaller fueltank and some extra weight during the race to neutralize the hybrid system gains.

So the team can spend allot of money on mechanical grip, wear and maybe better energymanagement.

Which confirms that (what is now termed) LMDh makes the most sense for OEMs. Toyota could still join the party in that group. As it to all intents LMP2+ it should be relatively straightforward to structure BoP (as compared with Hypercar.

I feel sorry Toyota and Peugeot. Throwing in millions for a fully factory designed chassis, than to be beaten by a LMDh with some custom bodywork.

Why leave out Glickenhaus? They are the guys I'm rooting for.
