This used to be such a cool track before they turned it into a testing circuit and paved every square inch!

It’s an awful viewing circuit on TV, I hated watching the 80s F1 races at Ricard even.

On the PC however I’m surprised how nice it is to drive.

It will be interesting to see wether Red Bull can keep their recent superiority or Mercedes will regain the upper hand in a permanent track.

I didn't care to watch the last race here. Didn't regret the choice either. It's about time they sprinklers are used in a GP.

I agree with the sprinklers. It can’t be that hard to set up a randomised computer program to turn the sprinklers on at a random time for x amount of time during the race. Would be exciting. Drivers know it will rain at some point. Not sure how long or how much. Everyone lives the wet races. Fans and drivers. Except perhaps those in the lead of the championships.

Random sprinklers is not a good idea. It's no better than the silly tyres from a few years ago that led to "the Pirelli lottery".

Looking at old footage of Paul Ricard it seems to be a to good track for just a chicane to spoil it. The problem seems to be the excessive runoff-areas. With a requirement of just 2 wheels on the track, the corners become too wide to be tricky. It's also to forgiving to pose a challenge. And for us TV-viewers, the track becomes quite confusing, with every corner looking more or less the same.

So, here's my quick fix: Line the track limit with tire walls, or if you want to go really old school, bales of hay. It would solve most of these issues. With the huge runoff-areas behind, they don't really need to stand up to any impact, just be able to knock a front wing off.

The 2021 compounds were supposed to lower the pressures, they were introduced because they couldn't go any higher on the old ones, which they had to do for safety reasons - iirc 1.5psi lower on the front and 2.0psi rear is consistent with the other tracks.

I would love to see a before/after of the reprofiling ... one thing i will never understand though is why they always lay the surface right before the bloody races.

Btw the sprinklers should be controlled via fan vote just like that boost they have in Formula E.

I can see a million Dutch fans voting for sprinklers before Max approaches the pit lane entrance but after Lewis has gone by.
