No longer? Merc ran an enormous rear wing at Paul Ricard. Redbull a very slim one. How much of the top speed difference can attributed to that. Part, all, or even more? In the Merc thread you wrote that Merc still had that excellent PU to depend on. And I agree.

Mercedes PU was ahead at the begining of the season not anymore. It's going to a bit embarrassing for Mercedes on Saturday.

This Saturday? Let’s see. First thing I will be looking at are the wings. You cannot say that a team running that much more wing has less power, you simply can’t compare. I think Mercedes is still the most powerfull, simply setting the wing to what they deem gives the best options/ chances on Sunday. It would have worked if it were not for an undercut nobody expected. They just took 0.3 seconds away of any undercut with the new pitstop rules slowing down the quickest team.

I have never seen a wheel not secured at the quickest team. It is a big hit for the quicker team’s option to make an undercut work.

They could have solved this simply with a big fine for an unsafe release. Under the budget cap all teams are hit by fines, also the 'rich' ones.

I think you're getting a little overly worked up about this, because the reaction time constraints, are pretty much at the limit of what a human is capable of.

For example if memory serves a reaction faster than 0.1 seconds, is an automatic false start in international track events.

So setting a limit of 0.15 seconds for a pit crew member that's got a lot more going on around them than a sprinter at a start of a race seems perfectly reasonable.
