What is the purpose of the arm that is present in the first photo but that is missing in the second? The brass colored one behind the suspension.

That new suspension reminds me alot of the RB5s suspension, altho not pullrod. Its a pushrod version of the RB5 tho.

Yeap - to pull the wake to the outside of the wheel.

Great pic, so are the brake cooler casings CF too?
It does make me wonder why, is it that given their existing facilites their economies of scale make it cheap enough? or is this one of those areas where money is thrown away and that would benefit from standardized components?

I believe they are allowed a certain amount of weight for flyaway races and this lightens the load... or maybe I'm thinking the wrong series. But I thinks that is why they have CF everything.

Even if they don't have weight restrictions on flyaways you'd still want your equipment as light as possible, as a couple of extra kilos will cost a lot in fuel to take round the world.

Sorry to disappoint you guys but the brake fan boxes aren't really carbon, they're moulded plastic with a carbon finish...
It's cheaper than carbon and you wouldn't employ a laminator who needed practice making boxes!
A lot of the pit gear is made from carbon though for exactly the reason that ISLAMATRON mentions, the air freight price is massive!

And imightbewrong, you are indeed wrong. The mystery brass coloured arm is in fact the rear trackrod with heat relective gold tape on it . It's running almost parallel to the lower rear wing element in the second picture. The different photograph angles make the suspension look quite different but it's the same old double A-arm pushrod suspension.
