I loved the sprint race, good dose of exactment before tomorrows main race.
100% It was great action. On the one hand FOM try to make it sound so exciting that it's kinda cringe, then on the other you have people saying it was pointless and boring. Quite interesting.

Mercedes will definitely split the strategy tomorrow which will be interesting as Max is all alone like Spain where Lewis give him a beating in the second fastest car.

Max's tyres were also dropping fast at the end despite all that clear air and almost let Lewis get DRS down the hanger straight.
Max slowed down at the end because the team asked him to stay off the exit kerbs
Something the team saw on suspension loads maybe ? In the end they asked him to stay of all kerbs lol

So why wasn't George penalised? Ruined Sainz race....
That’s a very good question. Even if it was declared as racing incident (which I don’t know), it just destroyed the grid position Sainz got on merit in qualifying. And that’s exactly the point why I think that this format is absolutely dumb.

Sainz left him a parking sized space and that guy managed to hit him. Russell just not taking any blame makes it worse. He is not so good in duels

Quali was much more fun than that! I like the idea, but something is not right.

I personally feel it isn't the race format but the cars that need changing.

I do feel that three practice sessions are boring but I feel it would be much better if we had a sprint race with reserve drivers participating in them on Friday and those points being part of the WCC and a separate championship for drivers called YDC or something.

Curiously, how did Mercedes suddenly became faster on the straight? Aren't they using the same PU? Someone should look into that. Were there any reliability updates? :)

Mercedes was the best car in Spain.

I guess Mercedes' strategy was to put Bottas in front of Verstappen in order to protect Hamilton's pole. It obviously didn't work out.

I think Perez starts from the pit lane tomorrow on hard tyres, and pulls a deep 2 stop to finish 3rd. H,S,S.

Maybe if there is a safety car, otherwise the podium looks likely to be Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas in some order as it usually is. Leclerc vs Norris will be very interesting to watch though.

What does it actually mean these days when drivers ask for more power during the race? What process is involved?

Aren't you allowed to change direction only once on the straight 🤔

Max was weaving when Hamilton was close by. That's a clear infringement.
I was wondering the same thing.

Ever since Masi has been the race director they have been really selective with which rules they follow. I mean, the guy has to explain his motives regarding something every single weekend.

Rules are being selectively picked to aid the forced excitement.

As for the sprint race. Boy, was it cringe. The whole thing is so incredibly forced. And then the interviews afterwards.

The sprint race has seriously taken away the joy that I would normally feel from a race weekend.

We were expecting 17 laps of fighting between Hamilton and Verstappen, wheel by wheel.
And what we got?

1. ONE lap of fighting between them.
2. Typical procession from P1 to P5
3. Medium tyres barely last these 17 laps...
4. Alonso brought a bit of emotions only beacuse he had different, softer tyres.

That's it. If this is this "emotional super new content"... don't be curious why people says that it was pointless.

It was just like 17 laps of any normal race - a bit of fighting, especially on soft vs. medium tyres, and then - train.

Engine maps are fixed so it changes battery deployment.
