No matter what bring your popcorn. The gloves are off the main protagonists now, and it’s likely gonna get ugly. I see lots of broken front wings and sliced tires over the coming races. I’m already popping the popcorn. It’s gonna get REAL this year in F1 and I can’t wait to see what happens.

You know what, this is perfectly fine but race stewards has been pretty bad. I do not trust them. Their decisions have been pretty inconsistent and most of the time instead of focusing on the incident itself and the written rules, they decide based on political outcomes..

I hope not. That's junior level stuff, not F1. If the drivers are deliberately doing that then there should be serious penalties. Race hard, yes, but don't deliberately cause damage.

I’m not wanting the damaged wings and sliced wheels. I’m being realistic when considering the two main protagonists, their history, and closeness in current car performance available. I expect close racing and yes would prefer it to be clean and who wouldn’t? Absolutely prefer the race to be clean and no safety cars or yellows. I just don’t see that happening. Nobody wants the stewards deciding a race but what are you gonna do these days with where the racing rules are at and how races are refereed?

I think this circuit is erroneously being compared to Monaco and Baku. It’s just not that slow any more with this generation of cars. And it has racetrack tarmac.

Just watching the annotated pole lap from last year is a good representation of how fast it has become.

Ferrari will be in the mix for at least 3rd at every circuit from here on out.

I think this circuit is erroneously being compared to Monaco and Baku. It’s just not that slow any more with this generation of cars. And it has racetrack tarmac.

Just watching the annotated pole lap from last year is a good representation of how fast it has become.

I agree and I think Sainz made that point well. However it still seems counter when you look at their performance on this track in 2017, with similar chassis attributes to this seasons. I’m not saying they’ll dominate or even be on the podium, I’m more trying to reconcile the statements with the performances

We have less downforce now with the tapered floors. I do think Ferrari will be better than they think.
Mercedes will have a harder time. Mclaren for me are the dark horse; Norris can challenge for pole.

One thing is for sure - this season has been very hard to predict based on either track characteristics or historic performances.

To have the audio out of sync on that pole lap video is a heinous crime. The flow of the W11 on track throughout last year's Hungarian GP weekend was the most satisfying movement from an F1 car I ever had the opportunity to witness. I mean, the car was DIALED IN.

what would you classify Hungary as front or rear limited...evidently the track characteristics of long radius corners suggest front, but there does seem to be quite a few traction sensitive zones... any experts that can help me out

Front limited. The tractions zones are fairly minimal to be honest, not like Monaco or Baku traction zones.

I think it's eminently sensible. They should be doing everything they can to diffuse any potentially 'lively' situation ahead of the race that might spill over into it. I see they kept Horner and Wolff separate too.
