BMW Sauber F1.09

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

And Kubica only had one DNF when he drove off the track very late in the race due to the wet conditions.
I think he went off in australia as well, but I can't remember too well.

Yes you're right I completely forgot the first race where he was in a collision with Nakajima

Still, it still shows that the BMW was reliable last season.

Does no one find the apparently lack of aero development on this car a bit wierd? They are practically running the car they launched, which was very similar to the car they tested back last year...

It was Kubica that collided with Nakajima.
Nakajima hit him from behind.

Take a look at the rear wing endplate...I spot a circa 2003 slit along the upper edge. Is this new, or has it been soooo long since anything happened to this car I just forgot about it?!

"only Heidfeld will use KERS in Australia"

Looks like BMW didn't do their job well enough.
So Kubica gets a car that produces more drag, but does not give any HP.

Im disappointed.
The only way to close a stupid question is to give a smart answer

I bet Robert's pleased with that...last year he was frustrated they switched focus to the '09 car and this lead to him being unable to mount a title challenge...now he's got to deal with his team-mate getting the KERS system first.

I fell he'll be wanting to stake his claim as the teams number one.

On the other hand they could have some reservations about the system, hence Nick driving with it, giving Robert a ore reliable (in theory) car for Melbourne.

Or they should have designed the car better...they could have moved the cockpit fwd.

And have more of his legs danging out of the car the next time he decides to stuff it in the wall? There are physical limits to how forward the cockpit can be, and although I dont know if the BMW is at the maximum forward position I do think it has the shortest wheelbase this year.
