Yeah i am Djing till 2am so i can watch it when i get in hehe.

I its does look like Mclaren have the double decker ready to roll. If Mclaren dont do bad this weekend, do you think its A: they were sand bagging, or B: They fixed the issue.
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!

I suppose for Macca, going for the double tier diffuser is a win win situation. Without it, they are unlikely to score points. And with it, they may score points but even in a worse case scenario with appeals they will just lose the points they might win with it. So it's not that much wonder they arnt on the Ferrari, Red Bull, BMW bandwagon.

With Red Bull's pull rod system, the placement of their rockers means they cant modify the gearbox casing to feed the diffuser. So i suppose all they can do about it is appeal.

It's an understandable situation, but i just hope the points are distributed by the racing and not a judge! :?

Great pics.

Looking at the bottom of that front wing it looks like there is the slit for it to be the four plane wing - if so it looks like they could still choose to run with that design. I wonder if the 4 deck wing works better in conjunction with the new diffuser when/if it's opened up.

I agree with the consensus that the Mac diffuser is an interim\disguised double decker design.

If you look with the contrast altered, you can see:
• The way the temporary infill panel in the middle, doesn’t reach the rear axle line, but is cut to avoid the two short fences.
• There are small vertical fences on top of the diffuser capped at 175mm, these would meet up with the exit of the upper deck
• The usual fairing under the gearbox is removed, theres a big void behind the gearbox\under the crash structure for the upper deck.

If the scrutineers pass the designs today, I suspect that Mac will add the upper deck, cut away that split vertical panel and run it on Friday....

Well would you look at those inner and outer wheel covers! I think someone is gonna have to eat some humble pie

Looks like they will be running KERS (have the inlet) and that they have added some tiny barge boards.

Looking at the two diffusers, the BGP has a lot thinner top edge than the McLaren and most of its ‘standard’ rivals.

Also the BGP diffuser seems encase fully the rear crash structure. Isn’t this another different interpretation of the regulations. I understood that teams would cut away the top edge of the diffuser and use the bottom edge of the crash structure to form the extra height. If the crash structure is fully encased by the diffuser then ‘technically’ the diffuser height is going to be taller than it should be, as if the crash structure wasn’t there.

And it's nice to see the McLaren diffuser is held on by duck tape

Just been comparing it with test photos and the car looks quite different. The barge boards have changed and they seem to have cut away more of the floor in front of the side pods as well as at the back. I think the splitter has changed too. We wait to see if it's fast or not!

It looks like rather un-even tyre wear between the left and right rear wheels. The one on the right seems to wear much closer to the body than the other. This might just be because the pitlane is not horizontal. I don't think the car has been out on track yet has it?

From what I rememeber it's a right hand track (clockwise), so the back right would be unloaded in most of the corners.
