What a humiliation for Lewis- a Williams in front of him.

Verstappen once again proofs to be the best in changeable conditions/ rain.

No doubt Toto will tell him to punch a hole for Lewis tomorrow into t5
Oh, go away.
It will happen, 100%. He has set very much wing, that is why they could be quick in the rain (and because Russell is a fantastic driver) but that will be ideal to give Hamilton a super tow. Max will be under pressure into T5 tomorrow.

A shame really as Max has set a great performance today.

I imagine Lewis having an immediate bargain with Toto in the motorhome not to sign George.

Imagine Max never winning 1 WDC in his career once George gets to Merc.

I don't know lads, but it seems to me that Russell would beat Hamilton in a Mercedes.

George first needs to consistently perform during races- being a one lap wonder doesn’t bring you any WDC’s.

If Russel is beating Hamilton in the wet in a Williams, he will chew him alive in a Mercedes. Hamilton won his last 4 titles in a fluke with a Bottas as team-mate. It is now time for him to slog.

Anyways, we have Max followed by 4 Mercedes powered cars - Russel, Hamilton, Ricciardo, Vettel & then Gasly & Perez. Perez is way too behind to do anything significant. Only thing is he is ahead of Bottas which will likely help RB in the Constructor Championship. Shame about Norris. He would have been up there with Max competing for pole.

Also instead of Russel giving Hamilton a tow type discussion, let us celebrate an incredible driver putting in an incredible performance in a car which is too inferior for him while his compatriots like Max, Leclerc, Norris get podium & race winning cars.

Sign of things to come, when George gets into that Mercedes.
And if/when that happens, no one will complain.

There's two choices, either create a bottleneck at La Source and hope to get a better launch and hold on enough to cover the inside at turn 5, which is possible if it's a wet race start, as they'll have to lift through Eau Rouge, that will make the draft less powerful. The other option is to go wide at La Source and bait George to take the inside and steal his draft. Since the RBR is better under braking it should make the overtake possible with a run into 5, however that makes it easier for Hamilton to get into the mix.

Max is only 3 tenths ahead of Russell in a Williams. Not so good really when you consider it's normally 2 seconds in the dry.

Russell made everyone else on the grid look very silly there

I would love for George to come to Merc.. But Williams needs him and Mercedes needs Bottas. I see George coming in 2023 and Lewis retiring in 2024.

Every serious fan knows that Russell is a fantastic driver, and they gambled full on a rain set-up. That is why he beat Hamilton (who can’t afford that gamble) and even came close to Max. In the dry tomorrow (which it likely won’t be) he will get eaten alive.

I disagree with Sebastian. In the wet why are we holding the drivers to low standards?! Ayrton Senna and Michael would be disappointed.
Neither of them were driving anywhere near as fast through that corner as they do today, so apples and oranges.
