Lol. So they needed more than 2 laps and Masi called red early. I dunno if that’s accurate but hahahahaha

I remember when we would race in the rain as long as the medical helicopter could take off. What happened to that? What a farcical event.
Japan 2014 happened.

The drivers were complaining they couldn’t see. There was no enthusiasm for racing.

The bottom of the circuit was OK, Eau Rouge/Raidillon were the worst. The risk of someone losing it Norris style and being T boned in the mist was very high. Then as we’ve seen all bets are off regarding the result. The risk was too high and I very much doubt Whiting would have done anything differently.

Maybe the cars should have circulated for more laps at 3PM. It turned out to be the best weather. A few more laps behind the safety car might have cleared the water some. Possibly.

I think people can be understanding towards the conditions and not racing in it. I certainly am.

I think what chaps people is the pace car laps counting as race laps, and likely absolving Liberty of any liability to the fans / sponsors / track for a refund or “damages”.

Like USGP at Indy still met the definition of a race, but it was still a complete farce.

Who will make the spiciest comment to the press? I think Alonso might say something here. Maybe Vettel and GPDA make a statement too?

Lewis’s were measured but there was a lot of spice behind them.

Very Lucky for Max and redbull.
had Lewis been on pole and got those 12.5 points.. this thread would have exploded.

He got free points to tighten up the championship even more. And another race which could mean less chance of taking an engine penalty for their 4th PU.
For Sure!!

Agree. Indecision is almost as bad, and sometimes worst, as a wrong decision.

Same goes for the track out rules, with Masi changing them as the race goes on.

Nice. Good to see him continuing this point in other interviews. I hope others follow.

Kaay :?: I guess I'll just ignore all the other wet races that were held since then. I stand by my statement, there was a time when how the drivers felt was irrelevant and it was an objective standard of whether or not the medical helicopter can take off or not.

This was a farcical event.

RIP Jules.

That’s very interesting. Could be some afters and some red faces about this because I’m sure several of the teams would pick up on that if he has and it would have huge financial implications if the race became null and void. However I think maybe one of the laps during the first parade counted to the total lap count?
