I never fully understood the track "walks". I understand wanting to get an up-close feel of the track, the corners, bumps etc. but do you get much better feel by walking as opposed to doing it on a bicycle, or even a slow moving golf cart a few laps around? Heck, even a scooter.

It’s just a few kilometres. Good way to discuss with your engineers small bumps, ditches off track or escape roads.

The Royal Couple at Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will be present at the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort this weekend.
Prior to the race, the Royal Couple will meet racing driver Max Verstappen on Sunday afternoon 5 September.
There are no media facilities. Images of the meeting with Max Verstappen will be available via the Dutch Grand Prix.

Weekend weather forecast showing 17-22 degrees celsius tempeature during the practice sessions, and race. Low chance of rain proected all weekend.

Thuss low elevation of this track and the variety of turns should give a good indicator of overall performance. Will be a very interesting weekend.

Little to no feeling involved, it's just noticing details you wouldn't normally notice at car speeds.

Great view of how hard the safety car has to be driven - even though the drivers complain it's too slow.

Shows that this track is likely to be another Monaco - a procession.

And/or car viewing angle/perspective, i know it's about finer details but most potholes don't look as big from inside our cars as they do when standing right next to them

There's unfortunately very little sense of speed with that FOV but yea, there's loads of slip angle to get it to turn in etc, looks quite aggressive.

So what is he actually doing with the real estate he owns?

He is part of the investors who buy up houses in Amsterdam and drive up rental prices , he has been in the news alot for that over the years.
Especially with Expats flocking to Amsterdam to work for companies like Booking.com and the expats pay any price, but as soon as Corona started Booking.com was one of the first companies to ask for state support.
And there have been complaints about the places he rents out things not getting fixed and all.
Been going on for awhile that there is even talk about a Bernhard Tax to make sure when you own a property you actually have to live in it to stop these investors just buying up houses to live in.

On the other hand Zandvoort has been falling in decay over the years so part of having the GP there is also sort of having the Olympics in East London so to invest back into the community. They do have a better rail connection and such which is government funded, but because of the GP

Currently, the owner of the circuit is prince Bernhard Junior, a cousin of the king. And with all the preparations required for the GP, <b>there seem to have been some environmental issues that were, say, glazed over.</b> Even in 2021, royalty opens doors that otherwise remain shut. Aside from his involvement in Zandvoort, Bernhard Jr. is most famous for owning a large stock of real estate in cities like Amsterdam, where it's sheer impossible for starters to find a house.

You picture the royal family quite negatively while other point of views are possible. I for one see also the benefits of a monarchy.

I am pretty sure that the 'environmental issues' were not glazed over. The NOx for instance was at many places (for building projects and industry as well) an issue because of lack of permits. Zandvoort does have a nature protection permit already for a long time. Debate is now mainly because environmental groups just try something, and legislation for NOx is on the move. Zandvoort is quite unique in this regard that they have of a sound environmental permit in which a formula 1 race is permittef every year since the last race in 1985, just in case.
