It is almost a guarantee tha Hamilton has a gearbox issue. Five place penalty here we come...

EDIT:
Barrichello
"It has been a great day and I was hoping I could put the car on pole. The car was fantastic on low fuel but in Q3 I developed some understeer. We tried to add some wing but the car was still going understeer so it was difficult.

From Autosport:
"Although Brawn GP is effectively a renamed Honda operation, it is officially classed as a new team - which makes today's result the first time a new entrant has taken pole for its debut since the factory Mercedes-Benz team in the 1954 French GP."

Amazing quali, best since, i just can't remember. Lewis, let me introduce you to the back of the grid monkeys :D
Wasn't it weird they just showed part of Jenson's interview and cut the rest short to talk to Branson? well maybe not weird but certainly uncool. Looking forward to a great race. It would have been interesting to see Fernando and Heikki a bit closer to the front, let's see what happens.

7,8 with Ferrari? Kubica 4 without and Heidfeld 11 with KERS.
That looks bad Max.
Don't You think guys that Australian results will influent the final of the diffusorgate?
It will be a shame if Red Bull will need to trash rear end of the car. It is performing really niece.

Congrats for Brawn. Personally I am happy with Kubica and Red Bull showing pace.

Let's break some wings tomorrow - back of the field will be full of angry drivers not used to such distant positions :]
Perhaps a new diffusor play more important than KERS!!

It seems that KERS hasn't made much of an impact during qualifying, however, would it's use be more effective during racing?

I think this qualifying session should be dedicated to all the people who were certain Brawn GP was running light in winter testing and McLaren were hiding aces up their sleeves..
Amazing how close the top 10 were at Q2, really promising for good thrills during the season, and even in Q3 only 0,4'' between 3rd and 10th!
Let's just hope the diffusers won't be deemed illegal and retrospective penalties held out: that would really ruin everything. With Ferrari, Renault and McLaren left behind it will be nice to see how they try to catch up during the first half of the season, which hopefully they'll manage in order to provide us with an even more interesting second half of the season! Just imagine Brawn GP, Red Bull, Williams, BMW, Ferrari, Renault (ok, Alonso!), McLaren and maybe even Toyota all fighting for wins!

Brawn cars are fast, but doesn't FIA have a track record of banning technical solutions that give advantage to a specific team? This time, it's Brawn GP. Maybe stewards were not convinced that the diffuser would actually make such a big difference and now when this huge(the bloody thing is faster than the last year's McLaren) advantage is obvious they might want to rethink their decision.

Is there a penalty for dumping the KERS after the quali?

You must be kidding. They all failed. Isn't that enough of an impact?

It might still be interesting to see what effect it will (or will not) have at the start of the race and while overtaking..

  I already were confused when I posted this. But now...

So congratulations for Brawn, but the 3rd place for "Super Seb" made me even more happy after RBR seemed to struggle a bit in the last days.

dp35 wrote:I predict a double decker diffuser on at least one team before qualifying (assuming it can be done within the rules). I also predict that every team will have double deckers for Malaysia.

Those who think the teams aren't capable of building such parts in this time frame (of course out of carbon fiber) are misinformed.
It's not the case that if they can build it they could stick it on the car.

I along with many others thought that we'd see McLaren open up their diffuser, and expected them to be the fourth team to run a double decker. The fact that they haven't, despite the design clearly heading in that direction, highlights how closely linked all the aero components are on these cars.

Without wholesale changes to the front of the car the teams simply wouldn't be able to get the required airflow to the diffuser to make use of a double decker design. That is no doubt the reason McLaren have yet to introduce their interpretation.

The figure being bandied about is that 50% of the cars aero package will require an update - a simply massive change in philosophy requiring many weeks, possibly even months of testing before they can introduce it.

Despite being wrong with some of my predictions thus far I'm sticking to my guns in my belief that at least some of McLarens problems have been caused by the late realisation that they needed to change their cars design philosophy to accommodate this style of diffuser, and their decision to start down that new path sooner rather than later. Thus I would expect them to be among the first teams, if not the first, to introduce a new double decker diffuser. This will probably happen as soon as they can make the requisite changes to the front of the car - maybe by China but more likely Bahrain. It would be truly superhuman if they can introduce the change by Malaysia.

The teams protesting the diffusers certainly won't introduce them until after the hearing, even if they had a working design ready. Thus they won't introduce them until China at the earliest.
