What are the rules on engine modes for this qualifying? Are teams allowed to change them or do they have to keep them the same from now on?

They can't change them from what I understand.

Is this going to be a night qualifying? It’s already close to 6 p.m. local time. And the pre-shows indicate poor daylight

No chance of night sessions at Monza, not unless they fit the cars with headlights

I never understood why more teams don’t do what Merc does to get through some of these earlier Q rounds, but it also requires knowing you have a lot of pace.

Mercedes likely does too. Their banker lap was good enough to be very safe in Q1.
