That just ensures Perez gets a decent time (which didn't work), the "double" tow doesn't benefit Max.

Yes it does. The man he is getting a tow from is a bit quicker on the straights because he himself is getting a tow.

That's not really how it works, it's not a literal tow with a rope

Faster here, slower elsewhere. It's not unusual - even the mighty Mercs struggled in the past at some circuits. e.g. Singapore.

Even with the best tow all weekend, Max is still a touch behind Lewis.

The tow isn't worth the deficit they just clawed back in Q3.

Do you have the data to support that statement?

I can't see the results for Q2, but there were more than 7 tenths back, I think it was more than a second.
