It’s a good sign from yesterday where a guaranteed faster car couldn’t pass on the straight. A good start could very well bode well for the result of race. Hoping for a exciting race!

Hamilton will look for a gap to pit into clear air ASAP
Just a fan's point of view

Thats the issue. They have enough pace to make both the overcut and the undercut work. It will be difficult to keep him behind after pitstops.

McLaren's race will be defined by the start. They seem very comfortable defending other cars, so it's all about getting off the line cleanly. If Max is leading on first lap he'll likely pull away fairly comfortably. If Daniel or Lando can jump him at the start, it's coming down to the pitstops. Same for defending against Lewis. It's going to be a nail-biter for sure.

I love your enthusiasm, but I'm afraid it's going to be an exciting first lap with a safety car, then a rolling restart that leads to us watching rubber slowly vulcanized for 25 laps under VSC, then watch more rubber slowly vulcanized til the end.

The thing is that yesterday our cars were fitted with softs. Considering the speed advantage of the soft compared to the mediums that Hamilton and Verstappen had what is the chance we can keep Verstappen behind with the same medium tyre if we manage to pass him at the start? I think it's gonna be hard to almost impossible. The Mercedes and Red Bull cars still have an important advantage compared to Mclaren. I hope with next year's reset we can turn the tables completely.

Massive help is that we can use the same tyres as Mercedes, there is no need to start on the tyres used in Q2. This means with two cars (hopefully) ahead of Hamilton/Bottas/Perez, we can defend against overcut or undercut.

Still I think that even a single podium would be a massive result. The laptime difference is too big and over a race distance, they can find a way ahead. I just hope we can keep Perez and Bottas behind.

The soft tires were a disadvantage for us yesterday, not an advantage. The only reason why McLaren went for the softs was because it gives you a boost in the start. Their plan was to just get ahead in the start and try to keep them behind throughout the sprint. And it worked.

Other than that, being on the softs is bad because you can't push on them. You have to look after the tires whereas the guys on the mediums had no such worries. Being on the mediums actually gives us a better chance to be closer to Merc/RB as we can push just as hard as them without worrying that the tires will fall off.

Let's hope that is the case and we can bring the fight to Verstappen then at the start.

Thinking about it more, this is the best chance in ages we had. Not only are we P2 and P3 on the grid, but we can use any tyres we want and in addition, both Mercedes and Red Bull are very far on the grid so they can't really work together. To elaborate even further, "junior" Red Bull team Alpha Tauri is also far away. We have to capitalize on this!

Good luck to both drivers. Clean start and let's keep 2nd and 3rd at first and see if they can get Verstappen on that first lap.
