The blown exhaust situation will be discussed at a tech working group meeting that takes place a week or two after this race, but before Silverstone.

so if the DRS zone detection is after the hair pin turn 10, if someone can get the job done through the first activation zone on the last straight they can then use the second activation zone to pull away on the pit straight.. do you think it's going to work well or be an easy pass this weekend with it being the first double DRS of the season?

Tht DRS zone is way too long, the cars will be way past the opponent before the chicane and then can create a gap directly towards him after the chicane

I can see a few drivers getting the braking completely wrong for the chicane and either cutting the chicane or smashing into the Wall of Champions (and a few others).

To be fair – getting the braking wrong doesn't generally get you into the wall of champions, it instead gets you skiting across the green run off on the inside. What parks you in the wall is getting the acceleration out of it wrong after getting the breaking right.

Actually what is the green stuff behind the chicane? Is it artificial grass? I don't really remember. I think they should change it to something slippery so that you suffer on traction stakes out of there if you take across there. I think the WoC will have a lot more victims this year due to the marbles.

I feel that Hamilton has a very strong chance for pole here (and paying $4 to Vettels $1.40 its worth a shot), but also i see Alonso the dark horse with his car showing some promise at monaco (and paying $12 for pole worth a punt if your a keen gambling man).

Though i cant help think that Vettel will be good fortunes and with the qualifying gaps he has had this season makes me wonder is the McLaren straight-line advantage worth that .6 that Vettel has been finding. Also to note Seb has been relatively kind to his tires in comparison to Hamilton, so could be interesting to see which cars perform out of the corners better compared to who can eeeek the extra laps out of the tires.

Truely think we are going to get a thriller this weekend

Indeed. The RedBull strength in Qualy lies in its DRS. IT can use DRS much more portion of the track than other cars. Here at Canada with tight low speed turns, there is not much space to DRS through the turn exits as they were doing before.

On the Mclaren side of things, we know that big brake ducts can slow the car by 0.2 seconds a lap (Source Mercedez motorsport) so we can definitely apply similar reasoning to the Cross sectional area of the side pod. What I am saying is that the "U" side pods allow lower drag penalty for Mclaren, that is better aerodynamic efficiency so I think the Mclaren will be the fastest accelerating car on the straights. And since Canada is a high speed track the Mclarens will pole.

I'm starting to get pretty geeked about this race, and see the top scoring teams in with a chance although I give the nod to Red Bull if they are not DRS challenged. The Boss if his bad breaks don't continue, and Ferrari only having an outside chance, but should hold themselves in good stead. I have a feeling this race will be epic, and I hope Williams, Renault, and Sauber have at least one driver in the points. Britney may be the sleeper of the field, and wouldn't Mike fancy his best finish of this season.

There were a few of those in NASCAR though weren't they? I seem to remember some form of touring/stock car racing there in the wet.

IIRC it was 2000 (with barrichello escorting schumacher in the rain even if he had been able to close the gap on him)
