Sebastian Vettel has secured yet another pole position and will start from the best spot on the grid in tomorrow's Canadian Grand Prix. Ferrari were right up there however, as Alonso was a mere tenth slower. He will start from 2nd, just ahead of his teammate, Felipe Massa.

The weather expectancy during this qualifying session is unsure still at the start of the session. Rain has been talked about for a few days now, but the track has been dry all the way through Friday and FP3 this morning.

To be ahead of any possible rain, Red Bull takes the track rather early. 4 minutes after the start of the session Vettel and Webber already take the track.

By that time, Paul Di Resta is leading the timesheet, ahead of Vitaly Petrov and Jaime Alguersuari.

Alonso though tops that time as soon as he crosses the finish line, only to see Vettel improve on that. All top drivers are out on the primes and continue for several more laps as these tyres take a while to get upto temperature.

12 minutes into the session, Alonso is again on top of the sheet and also back into the pitlane. Vettel is second, Massa third, then Hamilton, Button, Webber, Rosberg and Schumacher. The Renaults are 9th and 10th, ahead of Di Resta.

Pedro De La Rosa meanwhile clipped the wall but appears to have only harmed the front left rim. The option tyres on his car were ok, but he returned to the pitlane to check things before giving it another go.

The closing stages ended up in a battle between Sauber and Toro Rosso. In the end it was Alguersuari who lost out and will be starting tomorrow's GP in 18th postion. Behind him are Trulli, Kovalainen, Liuzzi, Glock and Karthikeyan. Jerôme D'Ambrosio meanwhile is last but as he is out of the 107% of the quickest time will have to sit out this race.

As Q2 gets underway, the Renaults, Williams and Force India cars are the first to take the track. 3 minutes later the big guns are out as well. Everybody appears to chose the softer options as of this session. After their first laps Webber is fastest with a 1:13.654. 2 minutes later Vettel takes the lead again, improving with another 0.25s. Behind him 7 drivers are within half a second difference.

Another minute later Massa is flying and improves again, down to 1:13.431, again setting the fastest laptime of the weekend so far.

At the end, the top times don't change as these drivers have done their work. There is also no change for who is eliminated, but the positions of the cars after position 10 changed repeatedly. 11th is Paul Di Resta, followed by Maldonado, Kobayashi, Sutil, Buemi, Barrichello and De La Rosa.

Action ignites quickly again as all drivers come out on track moments after the green light. All are again on the option tyres with the McLarens, Ferraris and Red Bulls. Sebastian Vettel ended up ahead with a 1:13.014. Felipe Massa is second fastest, ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso. Mark Webber is 4th, ahead of Hamilton, Rosberg, Button and Petrov. Heidfeld is 9th and Schumacher 10th, but he has only set a single laptime, skipping the first phase.

Schumacher then is the first to complete his final lap, ending up in 8th positon. Vettel didn't improve but stays first and it's only Alonso who is able to improve as he manages to jump his teammate to secure a start from the front row.
