Lewis is trying to get Mercedes to follow Tesla in using vegan 'leather' in its road cars:

apart from the animal welfare /humanity aspect, apparently leather production in the UK generated 39,000 tonnes of CO2 in 2017 , on top of the issues with water pollution and the feeding. See? F1 can do green

Pffft! Vegan leather makes as much sense as vegan sausages or vegan bacon. Leather is the tanned hides of animals. If it isn't an animal then it isn't leather.
