Renault R31

It's been known for some time that the Renault engine is the most efficient on the grid, so this extra '10%' won't make much of a difference on the weight side, in comparison to the rest of the grid.

It's still 10% more fuel than before, obviously they balance it so the time gained in extra gas is worth the weight penalty.

Yeah, but I'm just trying to dismiss those that say the Renault-engined teams are running heavier than the rest and yet are faster.

Does 10% more fuel mean they've designed in a 10% bigger fuel tank? What did they do last year when all the teams started using more over-run? Would they have had 10% extra capacity to play with?

It's not good for the efficiency drive this, is it?

The tanks will have some leeway because some tracks require more fuel than others. Although Virgin got it wrong least season didn't they :/

Maybe it's the angle of the photo but it looks as though they've moved the corner splitter and turning vane forward in the chassis, along with the flip ups being tweaked a bit. Maybe the exhaust exit is a little more forward too?

It looks like they've added a small flap over the flick up on the floor. Ferrari did a similar thing in Australia with a slotted flick-up.

I now see how they get away with that massive Lotus badge in front of the Renault emblem.

New FW. Simpler. Look how low it is!
EDIT: Hmmm, it looks like suspension is a little broken? Just before FP1 early breaks problem?

From Next-Gen
Heidfeld had returned to the pits in the first session with a blocked wheel, before Petrov spun into the gravel after a catastrophic failure on his left corner.

It was initially believed the problem was related to brakes, but the later theory was that the fault was in the suspension upright.

Wesley123 - probably you're right!
According to James Allison R31 will have in Sepang new FW, RW, diffuser and 'some other' aero parts. This picture was taken probably on Heidfeld laps 1-4 FP1 - so they probably were gathering initial data on old FW. I just wanted to see something new ;-)
