Lotus Renault reveal clean sheet R31
Lotus Renault GP have uncovered their R31, a clean sheet design that clearly shows when looking at the differences on the car compared to its predecessor. At the same time, Bruno Senna was confirmed as one of the team's reserve and test drivers.
With a new sponsor, a new shareholder and a new technical director, the Lotus Renault GP team have taken a whole new approach to design the 2011 car. After several consecutive evolutions of the same concept, the R31 is a completely new design, featuring the expected V-nose that has been so successfully utilized by Red Bull in recent years. The car also, surprisingly, features a rear pull rod suspension design and has hidden the engine exhaust to optimize airflow.
The car was unveiled by the two race drivers, Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov, accompanied by the host of third and reserve drivers. As of Tuesday, the car will come in action, with first Vitaly Petrov for a day and then Robert Kubica doing the next two days of testing.
