Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

With thicker wings, you can place ballast on them, which can be good for setup.

I read somewhere that they are trying to increase the ground effect with thicker mainplates and lower parts of front wing.

The two pipes of the same size and type of those spotted by Piola on merceds nose some week ago seem to confirm that it is a part of the fric system

Practice 2 speed trap:

Qualifying speed trap:
http://www.formula1.com/results/season/ ... _trap.html

I really, really don't understand the decision to lower the top speeds. It's clear that the team went backwards relatively to the others. They gained nothing in terms of Qualifying speed and I really doubt that lower top speeds will give them anything better in race.

Afther the Bahrain GP, Grosjean admitted that the new chassis didn't improve the things and that the problem wasn't chassis regarded. So, it is somewhere in Grosjean's package excluding chassis correctness.

His setup window is too narrow.

Eric also stated that they struggle to get the balance right for medium compound.
