McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They don't attach it, they simply defy gravity :P.

They use 2 small arches which connects the seat to the Y-lon.

The right one is missing (maybe was broken) and the left one is hidden by the Y-lon?

Are Mclaren tring to speed up the flow out of the coolig ducts with the slots and the gurney flaps around the edges to try and blow the mushroom suspension?

I'm beginning to love the back of this car, it looks so well thought out with everything working in harmony to create an upwash behind the car

Said that he lost drive. Maybe transmission? I think both Merc and McLaren were doing reliability testing today and yesterday, so they probably are both running some components to failure.

They must have two or more profiles that they're testing. No other reason I can see for constantly switching them.

It´s incredible that no one takes proper pictures of the suspension arms. Why dont the photographers focus on them? We dont even know their shape yet.

Jenson's impressions about mp4-29 behaviour after Day 2.

"We were still able to do a long-run on high-fuel this afternoon. The basic car is good, and there’s a great deal of potential there, but there’s still a lot of work to do. We have a good understanding of the power-unit, and we know how to race it, but, in terms of balance and grip, the car isn’t quite there yet.

"But I know we’ve got some good improvements in the pipeline – and they should help us close the gap to the front of the grid.

Because of the fact about the balance and grip I'm starting to be worried :(

But if Mclaren hasn't run any updates it's not such a dangerour situation, because Ferrari and Mercedes already started to put new parts on the car. What do you think about this situation @Pup?

Erm... not an aero specialist but as far as I know F=ma or in other words downforce=upwash...
