Toro Rosso STR8 Ferrari

I do not think so. In my opinion it is something similar to the pillar redbull ran in winter testing before 2013 but also before 2012 and at ydt 2102 in abudhabi.

This winter most interpreted it as redbull's DRD, but since it was run long before I do not think that's the case; check this picture from february 2012, posted by crucial xtreme

The pillar was used in testing only; after that was seen only in Abudhabi test and appears again now. My idea is that is not related to drd, as it looks the same as 12 months ago.

Rough translation by google - Also at Toro Rosso was seen, vertical bar towards the rear wing. However, the close-up shows that there is no gap between bar and rear wing is, rather, the web becomes the main blade, a blowing is thus not really possible. Also missing characteristic 'ears' near the airbox.

In that pic its quite clear that its a new drs, you see the pod hovering above the main plane and then going down into what is the pillar.

Yes maybe, i m partially with you! Also they may made little change of the general concept of hydraulics linkage to the actuator.

So maybe they test the new concept of DRS for next season. Where we expect the comeback of central wing supports like in early 80s.

There is also 2nd option possible. Maybe they just test effect on this new tires this old rear wing made (see different shape of leading edge). They just try make this "harder" compound work harder in order to maintain that they are in the ideal working range. Finding quickly new ideal balance with new compound will be crucial for last pat of championship.

Or maybe they just kill two birds with one stone.

In the third picture from stefan's post it looks like the lower wing is smaller - is this the camera playing tricks, or could it be a test wing for 2014? Possibly evaluating the difference to 2013 using the same profiles?

Perspective trick. 2014 wings will almost certainly be in-wash designs anyway.

I wouldn't say "almost certainly". Even scarbs said it could go either way. I personally think next year we will see both solutions throughout the field.

Looking forward for 2014 and this team... because of James Key, the Renault engine, the RBR parts etc
SectorOne wrote:Love the clamp-like design of the engine cover, looks to take up a lot of space in the rear but seems to work rather well.
On the contrary, one of the objectives of this design is to free as much space as possible on the floor. it definitely takes less space than the RBR and E21 design and frees the way towards the diffuser almost completely, unlike the other two.
