Imagine in 2032 or something and looking back at this Ferrari line up over the past years, and Kimi was still the last WDC.

Seems unlikely, though not impossible. But with the strenght of Verstappen/RB, and Ferrari needing to deliver something they haven't delivered for 15 years, and Leclerc standing in the way, those are long odds for a 40 year old driver to beat.

It makes more sense on Lewis' side than on Charles'. Wasn't the team going to focus around Charles and give him primacy? You can throw that out of the window with Lewis, so then what was the point of the friction with Sainz in the first place? Haven't found an explanation to this yet.

I mean, I highly doubt Charles wasn't made aware of this when his contract was negotiated... I still think the project revolves around him.

Boy, what a way for the F1 world to take attention away from not letting Andretti compete…

In terms of marketing, the only way this could’ve been bigger is if Max was heading to Ferrari; What a line-up pace wise Ferrari will have in 2025.

That being said, this doesn’t seem like a team building around Charles as such; Let’s pit the most successful driver in F1 history against our golden boy; No pressure.

Most likely Lewis’ priceless experiences will help Ferrari, and expect to see some Mercedes personnel make the move over too… not to mention any inside knowledge they’ll have on Mercedes.

Got to say I’ve not the biggest fan of Lewis’ personality… always seems a bit forced, dare I say even fake at times? But what I cannot deny is the talent/speed he has behind the wheel… which is the part of respect of him immensely, so him joining Ferrari is somewhat a mix if bitter sweet, with eager excitement for 2025.

Now the elephant in the room… Ferrari now more than ever MUST deliver in every area. Should Lewis stay for 2 years, he’s bound to have seen some information regarding Ferrari’s plans for next year and the regulation sweep for 2026… is it seriously more rosy than what Mercedes has presented? Or is it more just to cross driving for Ferrari off the bucket list and finish this career, content with what he has achieved…? No doubt he wants to win, but honestly I thought Mercedes would’ve been his best bet compared to Ferrari…

All in all, I think nobody had this listed down on their F1 Bingo sheet for the year… regardless of what happens, there is something to look forward to next year, let alone this year…

Maybe he thinks Mercedes would be better placed in 2026 given their (historical) engine advantage. Rarely in F1 ever has a Merc engine been bad.

And Maybe Merc would like a younger driver to invest 50 million a year for the next set of regulations instead of a 40yo.

Works out both ways.

P.S. Keeping it on topic - Ferrari team leads would have a mare keeping these two in check as "equals" in 2024. Despite the marketing talk in public, I never believed Sainz was treated equally. Works out for him to go elsewhere too.
