this is very interssting in my opinion. Sometimes metal is used to reinforce carbon and provide a skid effect (see sparks from front wing endplates) but I do not see imapcts being an issue on the kink line.

Some(un)educated guesses:
-these "metal kink lines" are monaco specific
-there is some aero advantage (surface finish or fien shaping) in having the kink in metal
-those parts are changeable circuit to circuit to fine tune tha expansion and making them in metal makes changing easier or fixing more consistent

I have not seen a similar solution on other cars - has anybody?
might the way is bolted/bonded to the CF allow to fine tune the gap to the tyre!? We've seen from the cutting some teams made on that area thT is somehow sensitive.

I reckon i was not clear - iwas talking about the two metal strips on the diffuser kink line, not the two arches near the wheel (which are interesting nonetheless)

I'm not seeing it.
Maybe it's a reflection, or maybe it's damaged, but you can see very well that there is a sort of step between the nose and the body

Looks like they added slits on each of the diffuser's central stakes

This floor-T tray concept is not new . Current Mc laren has also a similar design

Many cars have that same concept. Sauber introduced it in Barcelona 2009 but ditched it and Renault reintroduced it in Sepang 2010 and then many teams copied it.

A question about the Monkey Seat on the Lotus, i know that i monkey seat is to help with the airflow of the RW, attach etc

But why are they using the seat that they have used while testing their DDRS/F-Duct ? I mean this monkey seat they are using doesnt seem to be as a aggresive if at all like others, doesnt even seem to me to be able to do what a moneky seat does since its rounded upwards instead of inwards like a normal small wing.

I guess that down force generated by monkey seat isn't that significant, since it's behind engine cover where the airflow is disturbed a lot
It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time

Its not for downforce...

Really? I am quite sure it is for downforce, what else is it for?

When i said it like that i meant its not in itself there to create downforce but to help with the Rear Wing, to keep flow attached etc

So in a sense it does help with downforce but the seat itself doesnt create it thats what i meant.

The seat in itself does generate downforce

Yes, but the assertion was "does not generate significant downforce", which is correct. As has been discussed to death previously, and confirmed by a couple of engineers, the purpose of the monkey seat is to keep air consistently attached to the underside of the rear wing, not really to generate downforce in itself.

And on that note, we got anything to dicuss concering this monkey seat seeing as its not actually a seat since it goes upwards.

Does the "tunnel" it creates move air under and up or?
