Right, I think probably everyone would agree that the Merc was the fastest qualifying car right up until testing last week. I would tend to agree that the RBR looked like the faster car, it just didn't quite get pushed as close to its capabilities.
Except if you look at lewis' pole lap you can see he missed nearly all the apexes and still got pole. Just shows how merc is still fastest over 1 lap by quite some margin.

All ferrari fans must thank hamilton today ..if vettel wud hav been on pole..race result was sealed , at least for now we have some hope ...
1) hamilton does not let vettel take lead in first lap and then holds him up while alonso and kimi charge back on him.
2) Better would be.. grosjean takes vettel out, he owes it to fernando from last year. i am praying for it.

what say about webber.. i hope kimi can see what's gonna happen to him , if he takes over sister redbull of mark webber
and what a lap from hamilton .. he is may be the best qualifier of all time :)

One can dream but..Yeah don't push it..
IMO the Merc can still hold its position , at least for 5 or 6 laps .. after that i dunno what can really happen , overtakings in this track are very difficult .. I expect Kimi to charge from the back , and I'm not Very Optimistic for Fernando, qualy setup could be a handicap for them tomorrow

The Mercedes will have a heavier fuel load than the Renault powered cars. It will be a herculean task to get that Merc going fast while fat on the grid.
Vettel will be P1 by the first corner, and if not I reckon either another Renault powered car will be ahead or Hamilton will have had the mother of all starts.

I hope the former, as it's Hungary it's a not an "overtaking circuit" and will make a race of it rather than the usual Red Bull romp.

It is a bit unnerving though, isn't it?

Hopefully he will come back during the race and have a good recovery drive. I will bet he finishes ahead of the tyre eating Mercedes as he has choice of which compound to run first.

I must say that I am surprised Lewis pulled that one out  . Respect Dog \m/

But the car was clearly over steering at the last corner and I think that was the best of the tyre there itself. Its a question of were will Seb pass him
at turn 1
at turn 2
at turn 3
DRS'ed
or some bold move in some corner.

I think Merc can't set the car for the race and no matter what set-up they do they have a fast qualy car and poor rear deg in race. So why compromise qualy and fall back when you can qualify on pole and then irritate some drivers  and then fall back.

Ps- I will but over the moon if Grosjean wins tomorrow [-o<

Lot of talk about the dirty side of the grid here, presumably because the track doesn't get used much.

With that in mind, what odds Vettel going into the first corner 3rd and Alonso 4th? Would like to see them running line astern.

davidson discussed hamiltons qually laps and comment how his precision was superb ; he also showed today's pole lap and said it was perfect except for where it understeered as the tyres gave out at the end
horner said that vettel lost a tenth at three different corners today

Poor Webber. I really feel for him. Why don't he just take revenge from RedBull? He is not in championship fight and he is leaving at the end of the year. Why don't just drive bad and cost the team WCC? I wish it could happen.

Pulling for Grosjean but I'm not looking forward to lotus's strategy calls. Should be a good race if Alonso or a lotus can squeeze past the merc milk float early enough to get Vettel back!

That couldn't be any farther from the truth. I watched his lap onboard on sky and he missed the apex of the 2nd to last corner by a foot or something and the rest he hung up near perfect.

Sorry, but wut... He misses exactly 3 apexes – turns 5, 11 and 14. Around turn 5 and 14 it's the normal line not to hit the apex as it gets you better traction. Around 11 he missed it by about 3 inches. It was actually seriously close to a perfect lap.
