You concider Pastor Maldonado a masterstroke?
putting untalented arrogant spoiled kids in a racecar is not a masterstroke. it's a repeat of one of the worst things to happen in F1. Williams jumped up the field when they signed a Martini deal, ditched the paydrivers, hired a professional driver [Massa] and had a decent driver [Bottas] in house, and the best engine out at that moment [2014]. That was a masterstroke.
They're only heading back to the midfield like this, and if they keep at it, it'll be the tail. Who will fill Massa's seat as of 2018? I see ZERO talent around the corner, and not a single experienced driver that is available nor willing to go there.
I would really like to see different, as i really liked Williams before. It was my favourite in the Hill and Villeneuve vs Schumacher era. I love the Williams from the Mansell days. I am deeply saddened that same team was the team the biggest legend of F1 died in. I enjoyed Montoya in the Williams-BMW.
I dont like the Williams that went straight to the backfield and that hired Maldonado and is now repeating that same process.
Now you're just conflating things. I never mentioned Pastor.
I also never said Williams created the masterstroke.
Williams is a going no-where midfield team due to their own decisions. Mr. Stroll is capitalizing on their own errors to take the team in a direction that suits his agenda, his son.
Masterstroke.
I don't see anyone else coming in to save Williams, so unlike you who can't see this for what it is, a gift horse, I appreciate the new opportunity the Stroll's are bringing to the team.
you seem to lack to understand why i stated its not a masterstroke. its horrible and lame, and a team like williams unworthy.
teams like manor i can understand things like this happening. Williams? no. they should be above that.
and does it matter you didnt mention pastor? pastor is a carbon copy example of what williams is repeating right now. take aboard a big money throwing driver, and accept some 'consequences' with that.
it neither is a masterstroke for the strolls either, as they are nothing but burning through their money, no matter how rich they are. stroll is only paying for his seat. scratch that, daddy's paying, he didnt even bring his own money to achieve anything. he did not arrive in F1 through talent.
i can predict one thing: stroll will be the next crashtor maldonado. walls and walls, gravel and gravel. i can already see the headlines "taking a stroll" paired by lance driving his williams completely off-track.
what did it do for Maldonado's career? not much good. Yes he stayed in F1 longer then assumed but that was due to his money. Pastor was in it only because he brought oil money. Stroll is only in it because he brings daddy's money. In the end only money doesn't bring you results, money AND talent does.
they lack the key ingredient: talent.
and this is not a gift horse. this is bringing in rabies into your pack of dogs just because your getting paid so much, that you can buy 3 additional dogs. unfortunately, the rabies will infect your entire pack, including your 3 additional dogs. so it brings williams absolutely nothing. only a means of existing a couple more years in f1 just for existing....ala Sauber.
so 'unlike you', i dont see any of this as a 'masterstroke'
