hmmm... the BBC onboard coverage was quite interesting during the first part of the race: They spent a lot of time with Barrichello, following his antics. It was nice to see what unfolded first hand before Martin and Jonathan got wind of things. Shamefully, I left the BBC commentary on, so I missed his engine rev problems :(

One little gem that the commentary men missed was at Rubens's first pitstop: The brawn lollipop man didn't clear his thing in time and poor Barrichello got a good old whack on the head with it as he left the box!

It's very risky to bring new driver mid-season since there is no testing. Grosjean and Hartley would drive their cars first time in real track at fridays practise. Could they do any better than Piquet/Bourdais? I doubt it. And Nelson showed today that he can race, he just need confidence and he'll be fine :)

Button wins again, Barrichello retires...

Post

...with reliability problems.

So, any comments about this?

I would have exected it much earlier, but if this is the worse hand they got dealt in the first 7 races, I think that is envyable.

Well, the North American coverage on Fox is just starting, SPOILER!

Just kidding... I obviously watched it online earlier on a pirate feed, as that was only option as a digital cable subscriber in Canada.

Lame huh?

Well, FOX is putting the race on 7 hours after it started. I don't have anything else to say about that.

except... BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Bourdais has been heavier then his teammate almost every race by 30-40 kilos, and has come ahead of him a couple of times, and Buemi obviously uses some of his set up information as he is a rookie and just won't know as much.

Bourdais is not doing as bad vs his teammate as he was last year.

He has been doing a reasonable job so far this season, and I don't think is worth dropping, at least until after the season.

I think it was right that Vettel publicly question his team. So what if Webber has been there for a long time. You've got a golden boy here who can bring home glory. Chris Horner, please don't get those sentimental values cloud your judgement, you need to be strong and do the right thing. Rather than do the silly thing.

In the end of the day, the teams has to give the driver the best opportunity to win. But Red Bull decides to point out that Vettel has 'lost his first place' so in a way it is 'Vettel's fault'. Moreover, they expect Vettel to overtake Button after pitstop. Even if Vettel overtakes Button, he will loose it again because he has to pit again.

Reminds me of Ruben's 3stop vs Button's 2stop.

Barichello had to go for it. Finishing 13 is same as finishing last, you still got no points. And with his gearbox problem, which you can tell from the long straight everytime he reaches the second half of the straight he dropped back massively so he couldnt get anywhere near enough to have a proper attack.

Vettle just needs to STFU... it was him who lost the lead on the first lap and dropped way behind Button in the first stint... and then his team gave him a quick service and he caught up to Button and could not muster up the balls to make a passing attempt a la Hamilton last year, had he passed Button he would have snatched 2nd just as HAmilton did last year. Vettle needs to up his passing game.

If they had switched him to a 2 stopper and he came in 2nd he would be complaining about the team not 3 stopping him to go for the win.

Mixed race for Brawn. Great race for Jenson, horrible race for Rubens. The gearbox problem could have easily struck Jenson instead of Rubens.

Dissapointing race by Ferrari and Renault. McLaren as expected was absolutely nowhere.

Great job by Williams, shame about Nakajima's pit stop incident.

Also great race by Toyota. Red Bull and Toyota only teams to have both cars finish in the Top 8, great job considering Glock's qualifying position. Toyota had the 4th and 5th fastest laps in the race. Toyota's race pace was very very close to Red Bull, and both Red Bull and Toyota were not far off Brawn's pace.

In other words, the status quo has not changed much since the beginning of the season. Red Bull, Brawn, and Toyota have all kept up strong updates to their cars, and everyone else simply can't catch up at this point.

Well said, I like Vettel and will follow him as my fav driver when Webber eventually hangs up his helmet but Vettel screwed up, not the Team and Webber made the most of his strategy to come out on top.

I think Vettel who speaks his thoughts openly is more real than many drivers who speaks for what they've been told. Alonso vs. Hamilton was great drama. it was really fun and thats because Alonso refused to be treated like a fool and spoke out the politics behind Mclaren. But Massa vs. Hamilton, not really fun coz they are like robots... "Affirmative, I will comply"

I personally doubt Vettel would complaint if he had 2-stops. He had already conceived that he made the mistake in first lap and so to complaint about 2-stop would be ridiculous.
