Adrian Sutil has secured a deal with Sauber to ensure himself a race seat for 2014. He will effectively make the inverse move of Nico Hulkenberg who joined Force India following his departure at Sauber.

Hulkenberg had got as far as visiting Enstone.
“We had an offer from Lotus are available and have discussed about it,” Heinz told Bild. “But we decided that Nico will drive the last two races with Sauber.”
Sauber’s late salary payments would presumably have allowed Hulkenberg to break free of his contractual obligations, although it might still have been complicated legally. Nico may also believe that he might be better off staying with what he knows for the last two races rather than jumping into a new car at short notice. It also begs the question of whether or not the deal led into a guaranteed seat for 2014.

This is the revelation, or perhaps, the allegation made by Italy's BlogF1 about the reason why Nico Hulkenberg will not race for Lotus in Austin and Interlagos.
The article goes on to describe how, up to very recently, Hulkenberg had not been paid by Sauber invalidating his contract with the Swiss team, a situation which allowed him to not only talk with Lotus but got to Enstone for a session in that team's simulator.
Right in the middle of that simulator session, BlogF1 continues, his bank account balance was replenished. Where did Sauber find the money? Ferrari supposedly came to an arrangement with Monisha Kaltenborn's team.
Why would Maranello do that? Of all drivers available to fill Kimi's vacant seat at Lotus, Hulkenberg is without a doubt the strongest and Ferrari is in a fight with Mercedes and Lotus for the second spot in the constructor championship and the additional revenues it would bring.
True, not true, certainly a strategic move if it was. There is much strategy in F1.
Michael Schumacher, the retired seven-time Formula One champion, turned down an offer from Lotus to drive the final two races of the season as a replacement for Kimi Raikkonen.
A report in Bild newspaper was confirmed to The Associated Press by Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm, who says the 44-year-old Schumacher "would have been fit enough, but he's gotten used to his new life."
Schumacher retired for the second time at the end of the last season, having failed to win a race for Mercedes in a three-year comeback.
Raikkonen will miss the last two races in the United States and Brazil after back surgery. He will be driving next season for Ferrari, one of Schumacher's former teams for which he won five consecutive championships.
