It will return in Suzuka I think.
Korea is earlier this season. It's going to be the mother of all combinations of updates, Device, longer wheel-base and whatever they have now. And it's going to rain all weekend :o .

Omnicorse.it Lotus: the FIA had rejected the long wheelbase at Monza!

Image

The news was kept secret until Singapore: Lotus could not use the E21 long wheelbase in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, because the FIA has deemed it illegal. According to Piola, T-tray was extended to conform with Art. 3.12.2, but the skid block wasn't.

Why lie about it? It's not a big deal.

It also explains why they're not running it in Singapore, which was a bit weird, considering they were ready to race it Monza.

I think this really was on purpose? As they sad in interviews before Monza. It is just some sort test bench for to help implemented recently updated driver simulator. Could be possibility or is just shear clumsiness and lack of funds?

Extending the wheelbase of the car at this stage of the season strikes me as a very odd thing to do. The wheelbase is just not something you change unless you feel you have it completely wrong. To spend a ton of money on something you can't race, well, it's a disaster.

But as far as I know, the LWB was deemed to be illegal due to something they did wrong in the tea tray area, not the wheelbase itself and they knew it from the start.

Its the first major part coming from their updated facilities and thats why they wanted to get it out and see if they actually got the results they were hoping for.

You don't change the wheelbase on a car at this stage of a season, or indeed, ever. It's an admission that the car is, well, wrong. I'm afraid their 'updated facilities' smack of losing the plot.

This season was pretty much lost. It is quite clear they wont beat either Mercedes or Ferrari and there is quite a gap behind them.

So with that said, they can focus on 2014, focus on making sure everything works. My guess we have got a big chance that we will see a longer wheelbase(or you won't really see it lol) Lotus in 2014.
