I didn't think Helmut was that high up in RBR.
Helmut is the next man under didi. He's the acual man in charge of RBR and TR.

Well, good lap from hamilton. tommorow 5th and 8th for mercs. 1-2 for RB.

Over half a second faster than the Red Bulls... I think Mercedes goes all in on pole and hopes it doesn't slide too far back in the race. Alonso was practically coasting through his qualifying lap, at least it didn't seem like he was pushing too hard. I think the medium compounds will be good for 12-14 laps and the hard compound may last around 20. The race tomorrow will have more clouds than today, it doesn't look like it will rain tomorrow, but you never know.

Helmut Marko is in control the Red bull young driver program (I think) and the right hand man of the big man himself. So he will have a large amount of influence when it comes to it. I heard from Sky I think that Horner wants Kimi because he's great and that Marko wants one of the Toro Rosso Drivers because that is the whole point of his program and its where he found Vettel, his protégé.

If that's the case, then kimi will not join RB. Marko's word goes much higher than Horner's in the RB structure.

Two tenths in front of Sutil on a long track is nothing to shout about, but yes with top four reserved for RB and Merc he was the best of the rest. It will be interesting to see if he can beat Mercedes in the race.

- Did Hamilton cure his break problems or did Rosberg develop his own? :o
- TR is a surprise team here and of the season. Probably due to illegal transfer of technology from and towards RB. They need to train for 2014 engine related data exchange.
- Ferrari faded badly, another damage limitation exercise for Alonso, they can't blame track or weather this time
- Lotus should have a much better race pace
- Where are usual strategy predictions, Pirelli killed it with conservative tyres? Two stops for everyone?

Firstly: I'll stop you there

Secondly: saying that Marko wants this and Horner wants sth else when it comes to Webber's replacement is too simplistic. There is the team: Horner/Newey, there's Marko and there's a final decision from Mateschitz. Don't forget it's also his young driver's program. He was also the one that spoke about Raikkonen for the first time. I'm surprised RB don't mention Hulkenberg.

Funny how teams never got around to regain downforce lost with a ban on DDD. Hamilton 2013 270 kph trough copse, vettel 2010 290 kph flat.

Well, they do have regained the DF, just not the aero efficiency. The L/D is lower.

Looks ominous for a RedBull walkover tomorrow :( i expect Hammy will fall back into 4th overall behind Vet/Web and DiResta, brave prediction maybe. Really glad to see Goujon out qualify RAI again, i think he's more of a confidence driver and this will help!!

Three stops for tomorrow, four is too many, two and your pace suffers from excessive degradation(maybe one or two teams can pull off a two stopper). We'll see what happens tomorrow, who decided to save their tires for the race at the expense of qualifying. Passing is not easy here even with two DRS zones, that said I don't think tires will matter all that much here. Silverstone is certainly not as bad as Malaysia or Barcelona in terms of tire wear, nor is it anywhere near as hot as Bahrain.

Think Button and Di Resta will try the two stop, they have no where near the pace to go toe to toe with the cars around them. Could get Paul a podium.

Three stops for sure. I hope Mercedes have improved their race pace, maybe Rosberg can help Hamilton a bit during the race.

Sky and BBC seem to think 2 stops will be more likely, with Force India attempting a one stopper.
