He got the drive through because his actions resulted in Massa losing position. If the contact had not resulted in Massasoit puncture he probably wouldn't have received the punishment.

You can? What happened was irrifutably his fault. I can't see anyone (even ringo) saying otherwise.

I think he got the penalty because he cause avoidable collision.

Vettel's pace early on was stunning. Was he on old tired at the end. How come Button was suddenly so much faster?

Interesting that it appears that you can now run others off track with no penalty. Last race was Schuie, this week Nico. Or perhaps the stewards are just feeling sorry for Mercedes...

I take my hat off to JB forbthat late charge, it showed heart and a never give up attitude...made a great finish to the race. Pretty sure that Vettel had everything under control and in fact put in quicker sector times in the 2nd last lap. JB IMO has established himself as the Main driver for Mclaren in effort and in skill....

Christ, it was a tiny misjudgement - he was fully on the brakes as evidenced by the fact his inside tyre was locked up. He obviously gave Massa plenty of room but misjudged how slow Massa would be in to the corner.

Massa needs to stop whining about Hamilton's driving and sort his own speed out too. I guess Massa knows his career is over and he's not happy about it and he's looking for people to blame...

it is those small mistakes that separate the greats from the average

3 highligts for me in this race. 1)Hamilton's good start and Webber blocking him -not that he doesn't have a right to- but that was what ultimately ruined Hamilton's race. 2) Impatience once again getting the better of Lewis, it was a driving error -Massa was too slow on te apex correct, but remember the one hitting from behind is always at fault- so the subsequent penalty was fully justified. 3) Michael Schumacher; talk about karma. Having a taste of your own medicine,eh ?. That's what happens when you defend like a p***ck on track Michael. He's lucky he didn't get rammed by Hamilton at Monza. I guess what goes around comes around. Glad no one got hurt though.

Education is that which allows a nation free, independent, reputable life, and function as a high society; or it condemns it to captivity and poverty.

this has been the case (his fault) all year, but yet his fans failed to see it
I think this pretty much shows how his haters react ("all his fault always") than his fans. Stop baiting with words like fanboy pls.

In other news when Hamilton went to the pits for the last time he was passed by 3-4 cars that were 17+ seconds behind. Just how much time DO you lose in a pit stop in Singapore? I didn't note down how far behind the cars were, I only remember +17 for the one directly behind him. Why didn't more teams use less pit stops and harder tires?

Also how did he get 43 seconds on Di Resta by the end in so few laps? How did Webber lose 27 seconds to Vettel and how did Alonso lose 26 to Webber who was behind him right up to the last pit stop? Crazy race. Red Bull so dominant it hurts.

Yes, it's not like any other of the greats ever made small mistakes...

did anybody watch the live timing?

The lap before the safety car came in, everyone was doing 2.00 minute laps, however Perez did a 1.56, and at the time the fastest lap was a 1.52.5

Perez surely did a racing lap behiind the safety car, but they are meant to drive to a set time limit, why didnt he get a penalty?

Seemed the only logical explaination to me, but I remembered something similair happening before with Di Resta and someone else, and that wasnt a penalty if im correct. The Stewards really need to be more clear on why the penalty is given

Stunning stunning drive by the WC! great race management, great control and awesome to see how well he handled the back markers and the charge by Button. Stunning drive by Button as well... Alonso to me was below par...Webber in a good place thirdn...Hamilton..a well deserved 5th after yet another race mistake.
Yeah, I'd have to say that's pretty much the best way to sum up the race. I find one thing interesting though, Button almost never matched Vettels fastest laps throughout the race but somehow at the end he was suddenly a second faster than him.

Was Vettel the one being easy on the engine or was actually Button using a different engine mode at the end? Because I found it very strange how Vettel could just pull away a second or two seconds a lap from the whole field whenever he needed to but suddenly at the end everything changed.
