That's all down to S1, Merc losing 2 tenths and RB almost half a second.
Yea, but Mercedes under "normal" circumstances should have made the lost time up in S2 and S3, don't you think?

Great laps by Charles, Lewis looked genuinely happy with P2 which shows how good the Ferrari is around here in qualifying. Seb looked crestfallen with his failure to take pole.

Let's hope there are no crashes on lap one tomorrow. It would be great if we could see a decent race at the front.

Definitely. Hungary S1 was Ferrari's territory as well but they were falling apart afterwards

Mercedes is supposed gain back at least 0.5s in S2&3. Or at least was supposed to.

And 2019 pole not beating 2018 was just as confusing.

Ferrari has made a major turn around and with that caped new nose, that car is a monster now and will beat all others into submission. This is the car they had in winter testing. The domination starts now.

Quali Prediction:
1. LEC
2. HAM
3. VET

Race Prediction:
1. LEC
2. HAM
3. BOT

Fatal attraction between Verstappen and Vettel again in the race and they come together.

I understand that ferrari fans get excited but I think it is just from pole to first pitstop which will be earlier one for Ferrari and leading the race until that with hard defence of leclerc

I'll have to watch Monaco again. I thought Ferrari was pretty strong there too, if not for the qualifying mess-up that they did. I must admit, I thought Mercedes was going to ace this, but come Q2 and I knew it was going to be unlikely. That Ferrari pace was something.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Yes definitely, the surprise is that Ferrari was equal with Merc in S2 and 3, so technically S1 made the difference.
These updates worked very well.

They’ve clearly found a trick or something. Curious...

Hamilton certainly earned his money today, as did Leclerc. Although Leclerc made a couple of mistakes in that lap and still was able to drive away at certain points. Seems like a massive swing in terms of which is the car to be in, but is it too little too late?

It’s all about who gets in to turn 1 first tomorrow. Could be very interesting with a frustrated Vettel and Verstappen right behind them...

Mercedes so called "major upgrade" since Hockekheim doesn't seem to be very solid right now. Both RB and Ferrari are catching up with them rather quickly.

Third year in a row, Bottas is 8 tenths down on Lewis in quali. He is going to cut a very sorry figure in the race, finishing quite far apart.

Not a bad quali for Albon. He struggled throughout the practice, but then put together a good lap to come around 6 tenths of Max.

In the past 9 years, except for twice (2012, 2015), the winner of Italian GP has won the Singapore GP! If that trend continues, Leclerc can win this race.
Sure, it does look like that.

Lucky for Hamilton that he made hay early in the season when the opportunities came. He can afford to come third at every race so long as the wins are shared around the by the others. That's a nice buffer to have but with Ferrari apparently finding some much needed pace, I still think Hamilton needs some luck to win the title. A DNF or two and all bets are off. I'm guessing the season won't be over with 3 or 4 races to go this year.
