Leclerc lost the pole in the first corner, which is neither long nor fast. 165kph on the apex. Overcautious early braking from Charles there, which is understandable, given lack of reference from the first run in Q3.
There was nothing between him and Max in the rest of the lap. All the damage was done in T1 alone.
Yeah, the first corner was the worst for Lec, but also the fast one before the final slow part of the track. Lost like 0.05s there (half of what he lost in the first corner).

Based on this, Charles lost 0.14s in the T1, which is of course more than his deficit in the end of the lap.
Slightly misleading given that he gained some of it back by having a better exit.
But he does lose a lot by going in cautious.

Surprising to see the typically early braker Verstappen gaining on braking and losing on exit.

Is also risk level. Risk doesn’t come free. Charles is always willing to take it, and had to here, but it also causes moments. Max these days knows exactly how much to take. I think he could have done more in s3 but that is also a bigger chance of a Norris moment, or worse so he didn’t. Checo was way closer to the wall. And over the white line. Point taken.
The problem with Norris is that this is becoming something of common occurance for him, he pushes, he overdrives, he makes mistakes.
While someone like Leclerc is awesome at going for broke and keeping it together.

It hasn't been a big problem because these days you can overtake, so he ends up getting the race result his car deserves, but to fight Verstappen and his RB you need every help you can get.

he gains everywhere on the straights(in the beginning and the middle part) not due to better exits but mostly due to more powerful engine.

The significance of the "bet" seems to have been overlooked on this forum.

Ricciardo should be a bit worried. Alonso didn’t need this much time after 2 seasons out.

They put Ricciardo in the SAT seat because of the new USA sponsors.
They expect a lot from him. He needs to help SAT move up.
He can't even beat Yuki !!

Immediately after the point you set he recovers the most, that's exit/traction, this carries a little bit into acceleration then it evens out for speed.

Yuki is a fast guy. He always has been. You know I was early to recognize that. Gets a lot of hate for his temper and well, hard to understand English won’t help but Ricciardo isn’t yet totally out of it like some think. He has had some meager years and bad performances but also still sometimes is very quick. He made me raise an eyebrow here and there. And yes, he has Horner behind him imho.

Going through the corners sideway doesn't work in an F1 car. But looks pretty...

Despite the second lap being slower, both of Verstappen's laps in Q3 were good enough for pole.

Good point. Quite normal for Verstappen. Not necessarily all the way to the limit but each lap is good enough
