Yesterdays times and the laps they were done on:

Massa's fastest lap - 1:11.722 - set on the first flying lap of an 11-lap run.
Kobayashi's fastest lap - 1:12.056 - set on the fourth lap of an 8-lap run.
Hamilton's fastest lap - 1:12.256 - set on the fourth lap of a 20-lap run.
Kubica's fastest lap - 1:12.426 - set on the second lap of a 3-lap run.
Rosberg's fastest lap - 1:12.899 - set on the fifth lap of a 6-lap run.

Hamiltons lap with at least another 16 laps of fuel on board looked good.

However, there is no reason to suggest they weren't carrying more fuel than the amount of laps they did.

Edit: lol I've been beaten, with the exact same wording! (minus a typo)
And I assume most current F1 engines weight under 95kg without ballast right? because i find it interesting that on Virgin F1's website they stated the Cosworth engine's weight is "Excess 95kg".

I'm just wondering because I can't believe that Ferrari would be that much faster than everyone else, to be the only team in the 1:11s, and well into the 11s today with Alonso. I don't want to get my hopes up too early, but at least looks as though the scruderia are competitive! :D
Welcome aboard.

Yes, I know: we can not read much into only three days of testing and a mere 300 laps

BUT, I'm happy to see Ferrari running more laps than anyone, AND apparently having no reliability problems. The fact that they were fast right out of the box gives cause for optimism. Their longer runs (10+ laps) also seemed to be consistently fast. =D>

Of course, I am a Ferrari fan, but it would be good for the sport to see Ferrari, McL, Merc and RedBull all competitive -- and the more the better.

Be nice everyone, first real post!

I agree with everyone saying we can't read into times yet, but I think the most amazing thing from this first test has been reliabilty, particularly the milage that has been put onto the Cosworth. As far as I can see Williams were second on total distance covered, only behind the ferrari, which is a great achievment for the fairly new engine.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'm wishing for a repeat of the epic Ferrari V. McLaren battles of the last 10-12 years, but as you said, the more the better!

Can't wait for the new season to kick off, I'm moving to Melbourne in a few weeks, hopefully I can get a ticket for the gp, it's been 10 years since my first and only visit to a race!

Did'nt the FIA ban the use of barge boards? How come Ferrari have them? Just below the suspension.

They are allowed in the exclusion zone 200 mm in front of the radiators I think.

The cold weather at Valencia might play a big part in the engine reliability, tyre wear, and fuel consumption. It will be interesting to see what happen when the cars turn up at Australia or Malaysia

Yes that's right, hence most the teams now have them...

"Having completed a couple of installation and acclimatisation laps the two-time world champion got down to the serious work and it wasn't long before he was topping the timesheets. Indeed, it wasn't long before he'd eclipsed the exceedingly quick time posted by his Brazilian teammate on Tuesday, furthermore, it was posted at the beginning of a multi-lap run and therefore not on fumes as some might suggest."

Alonso on Autosport

Thanks to Massa.

"The car I have many things to adjust to, the seat, the pedals, the steering wheel, the helmet, which is a new brand for me. I never run with Brembo brakes, so that was a first for me as well. Many things to adapt, many things to check, but I had a good base in the car thanks to Felipe's job during the first two days.

"I think it was a really, really big help for me because I didn't lose time with the set-up or the car. I just concentrated in my comfort in the car because Felipe's set-up was good enough to keep running in the morning."

I'm not sure about your name.... not looking to frame me are you?

I can't agree more that we can't read in to the times. I mean Jenson spent most of the day messing around with his seat! Apparently the McLarens were fast on the straights though...
