Vettel has raced before. I don't know what the big deal is about seeing him race. It just so happens he is in the best car out there. What do you expect him to do? Go slow?

Interestingly enough, Lewis gave it his all in Q3:

"I don't think I've ever driven the car so hard in my life, really," he said.

Whereas Jenson admitted to over-driving and making mistakes in his best Q3 lap (same article).

Which could lead us to the conclusion that the real difference in terms of speed between the two McLaren drivers is certainly less than 0.273sec???

I have seen no examples of stellar drives from anywhere but the front.

Any examples and I will be all over them Andrew, and I do not fault him for winning in a dominant car in the way he does. That is the way to do it if you can, but he needs some Hamilton/Schumacher/Alonso style charges from somewhere other than first at the last corner.

His check list is great. Young, fastest qualifier in his team, WDC and has the swagger now of a WDC. His starts are great, off the line clean every time, and he does everything he can to get to the first corner first, and this is where I see the first tiny chink in his armour.

He's soggied up the begginning of a couple races by worrying too much about the cars around him, but usually gets to the corner first anyway so this is not a big deal.

Monaco he had a great drive with a big 'what if' stamped on the end of the race, but he showed incredible race-craft to keep other cars behind.

If I was as quick as him, and in the quickest car, I would try to win races the same way, so I don't feel it's a fault that he wins this way, I just have not personally witnessed anything to make me say "WOW" like the other drivers I have mentioned when starting a race from a less than ideal position.

I will not see the true mettle of Vettel  until I see him in a less than fully dominant Neweymobile. I've seen it in Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Schumi, Webber, and Button in the last few years.

I have made respect for him like all the drivers, even the 'slow' ones.

I do think this might be the race to see what I hope for. How can you not catch a leader if you have DRS for two zones and superior KERS?

It's not that I want to see Vettel fail, it's just that wall is rapidly becoming a Canadian Pagan God, and every once in a while a sacrifice must be made
As I said the Pagan Canadian God must be appeased with a sacrifice of WDC.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

This is sad mate...

I'd much rather see Vettel stay off the wall and the Ferraris actually overtake him on track.

He raced pretty well in Spain. Kept a driver with fresher tyres, fully operational and superior KERS and the unfair advnatage of the DRS (ruddy gift to the car behind regardless of the drivers involved before the squirrels start nibbling at me nuts) behind him. Vettel fended off the advnaces of Alonso in Monaco.

If it rains I think it will definately be another Vettel win. The Ferrari's look fast, though their race pace is an unknown. Assuming the Ferrari's are as fast in the race as they were in the qualifying I think Vettel's best bet is to let the Ferrari's set the pace, conserve his tyres and play the long game if it stays dry.

I want to see Vettel race with people, not just lead from the front and keep others at bay in a dominant car while passing token back markers.

We all know that the RB7 can keep its DRS open for longer in quali than others, so I expect his pace advantage to disappear in the race.

+1! I still haven't made up my mind about Vettel simply because of this. I would like to see him in Alonso's or Schumacher's shoes and see how he goes.

LH with a longer 7th gear might make it interesting if it doesn't rains, i think he might challenge MW and Massa and take a podium tomorrow.

If it rains, it's The BOSS' domain. Vettel is good in the wet, but the spin in turkey in the wet, then the wall of champion's crash, shows he has a little weakness when it comes to his style and the 2011 regs.

Again, not wishing any harm, and the wall has been appeased for another year so it should not claim the cars of any more champions for another year or two.

willing to take an Avatar change bet?

If Vettel finish above 5th I get to pick your avatar until Hamilton wins a race. If you win You can our choice of mine until your choice of the top 5 drivers wins a race.

I wouldn't be willing to take the bet, but I can see where he's coming from. RB's race pace has traditionally been rubbish relative to their qually pace... I could believe 1. ALO 2. MAS 3. HAM 4. BUT 5. VET tomorrow... but I wouldn't be on it by a long shot.

Hamilton mentioned in his interview a "problem with the car"... Anyone have any clue what he could mean? Was it the confirmed EBD ban at silverstone, the too long 7th gear, or something entirely different that could scupper all chances tomorrow?
