I have seen no examples of stellar drives from anywhere but the front.
Any examples and I will be all over them Andrew, and I do not fault him for winning in a dominant car in the way he does. That is the way to do it if you can, but he needs some Hamilton/Schumacher/Alonso style charges from somewhere other than first at the last corner.
His check list is great. Young, fastest qualifier in his team, WDC and has the swagger now of a WDC. His starts are great, off the line clean every time, and he does everything he can to get to the first corner first, and this is where I see the first tiny chink in his armour.
He's soggied up the begginning of a couple races by worrying too much about the cars around him, but usually gets to the corner first anyway so this is not a big deal.
Monaco he had a great drive with a big 'what if' stamped on the end of the race, but he showed incredible race-craft to keep other cars behind.
If I was as quick as him, and in the quickest car, I would try to win races the same way, so I don't feel it's a fault that he wins this way, I just have not personally witnessed anything to make me say "WOW" like the other drivers I have mentioned when starting a race from a less than ideal position.
I will not see the true mettle of Vettel
until I see him in a less than fully dominant Neweymobile. I've seen it in Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Schumi, Webber, and Button in the last few years.
I have made respect for him like all the drivers, even the 'slow' ones.
I do think this might be the race to see what I hope for. How can you not catch a leader if you have DRS for two zones and superior KERS?
