True. He always put himself first. He had issues with Perez and total brain-dead behaviour on track with Alonso and now with Gasly (since last year). He got a long rope and I guess Alpine ran out of patience.
Ocon better than Sainz?Dunlay wrote: ↑03 Jun 2024, 16:13True. He always put himself first. He had issues with Perez and total brain-dead behaviour on track with Alonso and now with Gasly (since last year). He got a long rope and I guess Alpine ran out of patience.
I think he is probably going to Audi. He is better than Sainz for sure.
100%. Sainz is tier-3 in my list.Cs98 wrote: ↑03 Jun 2024, 17:06Ocon better than Sainz?Dunlay wrote: ↑03 Jun 2024, 16:13True. He always put himself first. They're not firing him, just no renewing his contract.ME4ME wrote: ↑03 Jun 2024, 19:21There is some joy in seeing Ocon getting what he deserves. He is a pretty big a-hole when his helmet is on imo.
But is this really the best and wisest decision Alpine could've have taken? They seem pretty trigger happy with firing people. Putting him on the sidelines for a race or two would've been pretty effective I think. He's a good driver, he just needs boundaries and management.
Sure. How would you feel if your employer hired someone else to do your job and you headed to the market seeking other jobs perhaps with a pay cut?diffuser wrote:They're not firing him, just no renewing his contract.ME4ME wrote: ↑03 Jun 2024, 19:21There is some joy in seeing Ocon getting what he deserves. Victor Martins is French.

You suppose Martins is less impressive than Doohan?
I was confused as Martins was initially very quick in Formula 2, yet has not gone done much in F2 since then.
If Gabriele Mini is more impressive too, as some claim, why not promote the F3 Alpine junior?
I feel the same. I remember some analysis in French magazine, saying that the problem with Alpine/Reno is partially because "Enstone" doesn't care who they are: Lotus, Renault, Alpine, Geely etc. The main goal of people from Enstone is to retain job and have a nice and peaceful surrounding with friend they used to work with for decades. According to the journalist: it's their mindset thats a blocked. Because of it they do not really listen to whoever is the manager. Managers do not have the support from factory on their goals. And the only way is to do a significant changes in organisation of the factory.
