Mercedes AMG F1 W04

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think there is a new floor with new vertical fins like RB, and the brake duct is forming something like a tunnel to direct the gasses better. Also I spot very big grills on the beam wing and the mini monkey seat at the back, but the focus is not so good

I will look for a picture for a better comparison

I spotted a new monkey seat which is very different than the others. I saw at the sutton images website

I noticed that this is lotus' monkey seat. Sutton images wrote the caption wrong. Can anybody delete this post?

That rear Brake looks exactly the same to me. It´s just different Angles on the Photos and the Tires covering up a large part on the last 2 Photos.

As for the Monkey Seat, thats Kimi's Lotus.

Am I right in thinking that curved floor strake is slightly higher and also shorter than that used in Canada? Cannot compare other updates around floor and brake ducts as need a comparison.

I can.

1. They extended the upper flap all the way down to the wing tip. Before, Mercedes had a typical way of making the flap end earlier and make the tip end up in what is more or less an extention of the main plane.
2. Right behind the cascade there has been some sort of bodywork added. I am not sure what without any closer screenshot, but I believe that is a flap adjuster like Red Bull has.
3. (everybody missed that) they added an additional element on the main plane.

I'm counting 4 elements on both wings :?:

Look very closely to the main plane. You'll notice it has a long slit in it, effectively adding another element. i agree it isn't so easy to notice, but it makes it 5 elements in total. previously they only had this at the point where the main plane curled down close to the endplate. Now they have completely extended the slit.

I must confess I'm still having trouble seeing it. On which side (left or right, from our perspective) is it more visible? And is it nearer the top or the bottom of the wing?
