Well the SC made that a race...

PEREZ! Lost a front wing and still finished 6th.

Great race for Hamilton, too. I didn't think he'd be able to eke out the required lead to make the last stop work, but boy, did he do it.

I expected a little more from my main man, Alonso. Not exactly disappointed, but thought he'd be able to take a podium slot after that dynamite start.

But yeah, what an idiotically long SC for a little bit of debris...mmmmmm.....

Impressive race by Vergne!

As for the rest, Mercedes is still light years ahead of the rest when they turn up the wick.

Brilliant. The penalty is ridiculous, he was clearly pushed off track by Maldonado.
Today the stewards were absolute bonkers, a bunch of senile lunatics.

Hamilton's drive today was beyond unbelievable. All credit to him. =D> Reminded me of how Ross Brawn used to ask Michael to pull out impossibly fast laps and Michael would just go out and do it. Congratulations, Lewis. That was some awesome driving.

Some additional thougths;

1. Agree completely with basti313.

2. Why is this race so long? It is easily 10 laps longer then the average F1 race. :?

3. WHY does it take 18 minutes to clean up from a broken front wing. That is an absurdly long time. Instead of parsing every word that passes between the pits and the drivers, why doesn't the FIA devote some energy to speeding up SC periods?

4. What is it with fluids for the drivers? Are they limited to just 1 liter of water per race by rule? Or are the teams so obsessed with weight that they won't allow the drivers to have enough fluids to function? How difficult would it be for the self proclaimed "pinnacle of motorsports to swap in a full drinks bottle at each pit stop while they are changing all four tires? Some aspects of this sport are so absurd, they border on outright stupidity. :wtf:

Don't listen to them, most F1 commentators are just rubbish.

I agree completely.

edit: nope missed by two seconds... oh well, still strong.
I think they added the 5 seconds already, Vergne made it 6th. Gap was 7.2 and in the end it was 2.2 sec.

Thanks, at first i figured Perez just pulled a rabbit out of the hat in two sectors.

Really impressive race by him, took no prisoners at all and he finally got that race he really needed to put his name on the market.

This the same bull***t like the driver's weight. It would as easy to put a full 2kg bottle into the car by the rules as it would be easy to say driver+seat=80kg....

If Hamilton wins the next race he'll have twice as many wins as Rosberg. I just hope one of the cars doesn't fail on the double points final race and that decides the championship...

Super race by Hamilton, had it pretty easy with Rosbergs problems but still had a massive job to do after the safety car. Unbelievable laps!

Apparently accoarding to Toto and Niki (RTL Broadcast) is that a cable was broken within the steering column (rack?) that caused Rosbergs technical issues... Further investigation to follow...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

This is such a pathetic year for the race of Driver's chamipionship. It is so unfortunate that it is swinging based on failures, instead through great action on track. No matter who retires, it is a gutting feeling and to see Merc having so many failures of late, it appears that there is far more serious efforts needed on the Quality Control people.

After Last race, I commented that Ricciardo's race in Monza was nothing sensational as it was purely through a strategy that he had tyres of great life at the end. Which has been the story of Ricciardo's success so far. Here, with all things equal, the 4 time champion demonstrated to the new bee how to bear through pressure and retain place.

Safety car screwed up both Ferrari and RBR strategy. As expected, Williams was to fall back as they genuinely lack Downforce and are only limited to perform better on circuits demanding low downforce.

This might not go down well, but Nico's DNF, no matter how painful for Rosberg, has gone a long way to reach equality for both drivers. In fact, Hamilton has still had more issues. Now that they are neck at neck, lets hope both cars can drive to their potential without technical issues.
