Ferrari SF21

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Mercedes, Aston Martin and Red Bull have rear suspension arms that anchor to the deformable structure of the gearbox to use the levers as aerodynamic elements to increase the efficiency of the diffuser and, therefore, of the downforce.

Ferrari could not follow this path because it had no more tokens to spend
From Motorsport Italy

So it was tokens that limited them, what exactly is the difference between how Red Bull spent their tokens and how Ferrari spent theirs? I presume Red Bull had to work on the gearbox carrier and the suspension, same with Ferrari, or am I wrong?
AFAIK Ferrari changed the gearbox (2 tokens).
Redbull maybe changed the deformable structure (1 or 2 tokens, I'm not sure), keeping the 2020 gearbox?

My biggest takeaway from this is how much they shrunk the area around the UPS logo

They are just screwing with you; they made the UPS logo a lot bigger!

So is that hideous, green, "MW" going to be removed from the engine cover for the race weekend or not?!

A lot of people suggested it would be gone for the actual racing season.

Very interesting shot, the shape of the teeth and the fact the inner part of the floor is raised means that they want airflow to go through the inboard area of the floor, where the teeth are bigger and straighter. The delta wing with the slots are guiding air in that region, while the tip vortex gets pulled outwards where the floor edge swoops upward.

Judging by previous seasons it will probably be on the cars in Bahrain, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi

I still don't know if this is just some kind of joke.

Why Ferrari run with giant RW? Only way to compensate low level of DF?

Most cars got slower in terms of straight line speed compared to Bahrain last year(including Ferrari).

Everybody cranked up their wings.
