Alonso is so slow...

With Ocon P8 a top driver like RIC or past ALO could have been P6

Let’s wait until Barcelona to see the full picture of teams and drivers
Guy's old. Should have stayed retired and make room for the new generation....

Mercedes has only three sets of Softs left for Qualifying, by the way. They'll try to go through Q2 on Mediums, I guess, but that could be close, especially for Bottas

AlphaTauri fastest in almost all of the straights. Hmm...

I’d be curious what the track temp is. I bet at qualifying time it’s still well north of 50C. My my experience, if ambient was around 90-95 F, track temp was around 120 F. I can’t (well I can) imagine what is during FP3. It’ll still be heat soaked for qualifying.

Softs just might not hold up over a lap.

The teams have to get three engines through 23 rounds (practice, qualifying, race). I wouldn’t read into engine performance until qualifying, and maybe only qualifying.

Bottas probably missed the the apex when he did that minisector
He just went straight on and missed T1 entirely.

This says a lot about the psychology of racing drivers. That or a simpler number really makes your car faster.

Pole about 1 second slower than last year, thanks to Pirelli. 1:28.5ish

I wonder how much of Mercedes woes are the tire. I can think of when MotoAmerica (AMA in the States) Superbikes switched from their spec Dunlop rear tire to a different spec Dunlop tire mid season, the factory Yoshimura Suzuki team went from a bike that handled great and was winning the series and turned their bike into dump truck that was pogoing all over the place and just wouldn't turn in. It took them two seasons and about 4 swing arm designs and a myriad of shock / springs to get back to where they were.

It's Pirelli, I think that's to be expected from them!

Does anyone think a jury would convict someone that "dealt with" Crofty? The guy's a total numpty! His inane ramblings about sharks, FFS. Aarrrgh!
They should just promote the F2 commentary team.

I have a feeling mazepin is going to be well out of his depth this season.
