Downforce dropoff with yaw (F1)

Cars will always yaw. They have to, to generate tire force.

Yes they do, but that would be for a small range of slip angles, right?

Correct. The cars don't yaw any more than that. Yaw steers the rear tires, as well as the front tires (along with steering input).

The maximum yaw an F1 car would go be less than 10 deg, but if you do take a much lower category like the FSAE, where yaw rates are quite high thru slaloms, the downforce and end plate design to is crucial.
