Mclaren even when they are there or thereabouts in quali trim cannot match a Redbull on race pace. I’ve yet to see it all year. I dont think they will challenge max apart from the start.Mr.S wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:00In which case Max will get DRS & will try to overtake Bottas who will not have DRS (now that may or may not work).NathanOlder wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:56Oh certainly , I hope Bottas lets Lewis go, then does a good job of backing Max in to the Mclarenszibby43 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:54
Can you imagine then if Hamilton lost the title by 1 point? And it was simply because they wanted the driver they let go to feel good before dropping to the back for the actual race?
I know you’re not the one deciding, so these pointed questions are aimed at Merc haha! Any other decision would be absolutely farcical by Mercedes, don’t you think?
And Max will have slipstream behind Bottas as well ! I am not sure if that is a great idea for Monza ! The Mclarens are quick enough to overtake RB without Bottas trying some ridiculous idea !
I think it also depends on how much RedBull or Mclaren want to push their engines on that first lap.Hammerfist wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:13Mclaren even when they are there or thereabouts in quali trim cannot match a Redbull on race pace. Merc won’t do it because BOT would foul it up and let that happen. With a fresh engine and a good package this weekend, BOT shouldn’t be anywhere near VER by the sprint’s end.Mr.S wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:01And give him DRS & slip-stream, great. Only chance for Max to finish 2nd & get 2 points in the Sprint race !zibby43 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:58I think that’s the perfect strategy.NathanOlder wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:56

That’s the sort of ruthless tactic RBR would employ. And Merc need to get with the program.
exactly this. so could be a lonely race for Max, but all depends on the start.Hammerfist wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:13Mclaren even when they are there or thereabouts in quali trim cannot match a Redbull on race pace. Look at the results! or open your eyes! Lewis was over 3 tenths ahead of Max!Mr.S wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:57
Which is irrelevant, Bottas will take 2 points & Max 1 in the sprint race (if he can keep the Mclarens behind). Realistically the RB was slower than Mercedes & Mclaren & should have been 5th. To start 3rd for the sprint & potentially 2nd for the race (with Bottas penalty) is great for RB.
And LH was less than 1 tenth ahead while having a car 3-4 tenths ahead & had a tow in his lap, so Max/RB should be happy !
Stop trying to make trouble, you look foolish now you don't even understand how the leaderboard works!
Lewis did improve on the 2nd lap but he was less than 1 tenth ahead of Max in his 1st lap in Q3 & that allowed Max to start in P3 (which can become P2) potentially with Bottas penalty. Being ahead of Bottas & within 1 tenth of Hamilton in his 1st Q3 lap was amazing !
Yeah good point, and 1 extra point means nothing to Bottas now.
Max had a tow from 2 cars, and Lewis had none, that's why we was as close as he was! Did you actually watch qualifying?
Still going with this "double tow" narrative eh? It makes no difference. A tow is a tow, the number of cars ahead has a negligible effect.
It’s not 100%. And it wouldn’t matter anyway with Merc’s pace.Tvetovnato wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 20:32This was not that good for Merc tbh. 100 % that Max will take P2 into turn one tomorrow with the dirty side for Lewis.
Mr.S. I prefer your frequent updates on which car is faster than RedBull in bold text, all caps. Looks a bit better and you give more impact that way. And can I get the updates every 2 posts instead of the current frequency of every 4 posts that you do now? Yeah, that would be great.Mr.S wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:55It probably was. It was mega lap by Max even with the tow (which everyone bar Perez had). Mclaren this weekend is quicker than RB. RB possibly 3-4 tenths down on Merc, Mclaren possibly a tenth quicker or atleast on same pace as RB. Max will struggle to keep Norris behind him with DRS on.Juzh wrote: ↑10 Sep 2021, 19:29So I had a look at some telemetries. It seems norris either had an issue with PU or ran out of charge out of ascari and on the run to parabolica. He was 7 kmh off ricciardo (325 vs 332) and started to de-rate much earlier and harder. Without this it seems P3 was on the cards for him today.
Anyways I think Mercedes did a blunder with Bottas. Their car being 3-4 tenths quicker would have allowed Bottas to get to P2 even with the old engine & if he started P4-P5. P11 or P12 is just too behind. On pure pace, Hamilton, Bottas, Norris & Ricciardo are all quicker than RB. And if the podium is a Hamilton-Verstappen-Norris with Perez finishing ahead of Bottas, RB will be quite happy !
