Well... P10 it is, behind Renault, Racing Point and Ferrari... The fight in the midfield is so close!!!

Silverstone hasn’t been very kind for the MCL35 so far, wonder if the compromise has been made looking at the race?

But... Still everything to play for tomorrow and luckily Silverstone is a track where you can make overtakes...

Hulk in 3rd it’s the highlight of today for me! Good for him and really hope he gets a podium tomorrow (even though not good for us points wise)

So is it possible that the other teams have new components and we have worn out ones cause compared to Austria 1st GP where we were clear 3rd we dropped a lot in performance.

That shouldn’t matter in Qualy... Mclaren should still be running Qualy mode and it should have the same peak performance as Renault and the same gap to the others since their fresh PU’s are the same spec... Hmmm... We may not be as fast as RP and Renault this weekend, that’s it.

Peak performance drops as well when components get worn out. Especially peak performance.
Not disagreeing with you and could very well be the reason for the difference in performance... Although it just seem that the others are just that much faster than us at this point.

Not a good qualification and considering how better we did last week I am curious to see what happened to the speed from last week.
Others made better gains with setup, simple as that. Fresh PU components will definitely help after 4 GPs, better peak power.

Maybe we have a more race-focused setup? Can’t think of much else tbh

We were 3rd best “in Austria”, we weren’t third best best in Hungary, we weren’t last week here and we are not this week... The MCL35 is not the third best car.

It’s fighting for P4 with Renault and Ferrari and will be faster than those 2 in some races and slower in others.

Hoping that’s the case! But, the team seems to be placed where they were expected this season... The big surprise for me is Gasly getting ahead in Qualy, that was unexpected

You mean P3 with Renault and Ferrari. I don't even count Racing Point as there are gonna be more episodes on their illegality and I expect them to get a harsher penalty.

As was the case at the Styrian GP we are considerably slower at the second race at the same circuit on back to back weekends.

Any thoughts as to why?

It’s like we hit our performance ceiling almost immediately and it takes our rivals longer to find theirs and with the back to backs its just kills us
Just a fan's point of view

Is it just me, or Sainz doesn't seem to care that much anymore, just like Vettel?

That is what I wonder. We were fast in Austria first GP and we had the upper hand, then not good at the second GP, bad in Hungary, very good in first Silverstone GP and mediocre today.

When and if that happens... Maybe... But so far, in terms of performance Racing Point is ahead of Mclaren and the performance order will vary from track to track.

It’s what we’ve said from the beginning of the season, Mclaren is in the fight, but it’s not clearly ahead of the midfield.

We do have 2 great drivers and everything to play for tomorrow during the race, it will be an interesting one.

Mercedes + 0.851
Racing Point + 0.243
Red Bull + 0.851
Renault + 0.288
AT + 0.033
Ferrari + 1.187
McLaren + 0.996

Relative losses compared to last week varied significantly between the Top 10 teams with some losing more than others.

It’s also a possibility... But proteus made a good point also, RIC, LEC, VER, ALB and GAS all had brand new PU’s and probably that gave them a little performance advantage during Qualy (and potentially tomorrow in the race)... The teams ahead definitely improved more than Mclaren on this second race, but I wouldn’t discount also car setup... Last race, Mclaren set the car more towards Qualy and struggle in the race, hopefully they set the car more towards race pace and it will pay off tomorrow, but we shouldn’t expect miracles either.

It was very windy today too and some cars will be affected more than others under those conditions... Depending on what the strengths / weaknesses of the cars, the wind can play for you or against you.
