This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Many sources are reporting that the high rake philosophy is making Red Bull hit its performance ceiling. We also have a high rake. The general consensus is that high rake cars are more challenging to set up than ones with low rake (right?). I just hope that letting Pat Fry go wasn't a mistake considering last year's car was kinder on tires.
I find it hard to believe that rake is the reason. Like I said, rake is only there at lower speeds.
No doudt, they are more of a challenge to setup.
Keeping Fry was never an option, he and Keys don't get along.
Have their paths ever crossed professionally? I can’t seem to recall them in the same team together.
My guess would be at McLaren circa 2007. They definately know each other.
James Key: “An anomaly has occurred in Carlos's car. One of the circuits of the cooling system turned out to be too hot, and we do not understand why. It looks like it has nothing to do with fans or ducts. Possibly a sensor problem.
The temperature of the cooling systems depends, among other things, on the style of piloting, every year the temperature of the cars differs by one or two degrees, but this time the difference is much greater, so we had to put body elements of a different configuration on Carlos's car. "
What about Lando? While he performed very well in Practise3 he couldn't replicate that performance and he wasn't anywhere near the Renaults, the Racing Points and the Ferrari of Leclerc.
Why is the car having so many ups and downs? We were third fastest in Austria losing to Leclerc by pit mistakes, not so good in the second GP but still we ended up third fastest, had a major drop in Hungary, we were between 3rd and 4th in Silverstone first GP and now the performance dropped again in the second GP.
Are the upgrades not working as intended?
On another note this time we start way down but as F1 has shown us you can gain lots of places during the first corner if you take the correct racing line or you can lose everything. Guys cross your fingers for a good start. Then it's a long race and anything can happen apart from the first two places.
At the moment we can't catch the Renault or the Racing Points or that Torro Rosso. We are playing defence.Bothers me that we can't catch the Torro Rosso when we should have been much faster than that team.
Well we can't seem to be able to make the car work today. We are slow.
We are having so many problems today. It's not working at the moment. We might lose that position from Gasly and Albon after our pitstop but I wonder if we are trying to go as much as possible and have an advantage later.
Very good pitstop. We got both Gasly and Albon. Now to try and push up to cover the pit stops in those front of us to try and gain another place from Hulkenberg or perhaps more from the Racing Points?
Nope I was wrong but we are kindly close to Ricciardo. Stuck now behind Vettel. Damn.
How long is Sainz gonna go though? I would let him go at least 10 or 13 more laps and then go for Mediums.
Norris lost it at there. Did he let him pass?
Something happened with the pit stop from Sainz and he had to hold as another car passed. We are unlucky unfortunately. Another faulty tyre wheelgun. They got to fix that problem. It's costing us positions and points. At the moment we are clearly 6th fastest behind Red Bull, Mercedes, Racing Point, Renault and Ferrari as the car is not performing as intended.
I believe that the team is doing the best they can but it's not working at the moment. We are much faster than Williams though. Mediums and till the end. Sainz has a chance though to pass that little train. Easy on theory but very hard in reality.
