Renault R30

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The R30 has a 'new'rear wing (certainly a 'special' wing that provides more downforce for circuits like Barcelona etc...)

is that a split element on the lower rear wing? Seems like a few teams have a variation on this.

Could you be a little bit more specific? I don´t get what you are talking about.

I dont think its split, I just think that its the top of the diffuser that finishes infront of the wing.

Oh yes. Spa isn't a high downforce track.

there is a distinct line going across the the 'w' shaped wing, like Maclarens split wing

I was referring to the 'w' shaped wing, not the beam wing

That wing really is w shaped. Seems to be far more extreme than it was before, no?

Yeah, I can see it too. It's strange, cause I was sure, that the inlet has to be placed in the legal 15cm area on the front side of rear wing.

I've always thought that it's more like 'M' ;) I guess that we call it W because of some talk about innovative W-shaped rear wing Renault was about to present few years ago.

No, this wing is the 'old' one (appeared in Valencia). But in Barcelona, Renault used a second different wing; a smoother M shaped wing. See the first photo in this page.
